Your Itinerary

Florida Keys

As the audio guides play commentary based on your gps location, you can create your own itinerary along the tour route(s) to match your interests and schedule. Or you can use our trip planners for our suggestions on half, full or multi-day itineraries. Some of the many highlights are listed below

Bahia Honda State Park

The Bahia Honda State Park is rightly considered the best beach in the Florida Keys and ranks in the top 10 of all beaches in the USA. On a nice warm day, this is absolutely a recommended stop for a cooling swim or even just to get some sand and water between your toes.

Admission Not Included

Anne's Beach

One of the Key's nicest beaches on the Lower Matecumbe Key. There's 300 feet of newly replaced boardwalk that provides access to different areas of the beach where the water is almost always, warm, clear, and calm. Even a worthwhile stop for a photo if you don't feel like swimming.

The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum

Located in the heart of Old Town Key West, lies the Ernest Hemingway House and Museum. America's iconic author called Key West his home for 10 years. Tour inside the house and gardens to learn more about his books, 4 wives, and children and see the 40 polydactyl cats that are descendants of his famous white six-toed cat, Snow White.

National Key Deer Refuge

(Pass by)

The tiny endangered Key Deer are now found exclusively in the Florida Keys. They are good swimmers, perhaps allowing them to survive hurricanes like Irma. Today, vehicle collisions are the number one threat, so you'll see slow driving zones to help protect them, especially around Big Pine Key.

Duval Street

The most famous street in Key West, this is where you will find the greatest collection of bars, shopping and restaurants.

Key West

You might be surprised to learn the vibrant town of Key West was once the largest city in all of Florida. Being only 90 miles from Cuba and on major shipping routes from South America, Key West is a unique fusion of American, Cuban and Latino cultures. The architecture is beautifully stylish. The streets are lively and there are quite a few recommended places to visit on this compact island.

John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park

Why should Parks just preserve what is on land? The John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park was the first in the US to be designated as an undersea park. It covers about 70 nautical square miles with terrain ranging from mangrove swamps to shallow-water coral and deep-sea reefs, ideal for scuba diving. Visitors to the park can snorkel with multitudes of fish while exploring the Christ of the Deep Statue and even the remnants of an old Spanish shipwreck.

Admission Not Included

Pigeon Key

The tiny 5 acre Pigeon Key played a pivotal role for railroad workers building the final stages of the Florida East Coast Railway's Overseas Railway project, which would connect passengers from New York to Key West, and even continue by boat to Havana, without ever leaving the carriage. The Old Seven Mile Bridge passed right through the island which served as worker's homes and camp. After taking a battering after Hurricane Irma, bridge reconstruction continues for those hoping to walk to Pigeon Key once again. Access currently is by short ferry boat ride starting from the visitor center in Marathon, and is an added bonus.

Admission Not Included

Seven Mile Bridge

(Pass by)

Seven Mile Bridge is the longest of the bridges on the Overseas Highway. You will truly feel like you are floating over the water. It's a great, interesting photo stop, especially from the Marathon side. We will catch views of the historically significant Pigeon Key from the bridge as we drive by.

Southernmost Point

The southernmost point on the contiguous United States? It's right in Key West and is marked by a concrete buoy and we will drive to it on our loop of Key West. Just 90 miles south across the water lies Cuba. Long lines will form to take photos, so go early to avoid the crowds. Or just keep the relaxed Key West attitude and enjoy the moment as you wait for your turn.

Old Seven Mile Bridge

(Pass by)

Recently re-opened for walking, biking, and fishing

The Turtle Hospital

The world's first dedicated Turtle Hospital was created on Marathon, by converting an old motel. Turtles who have been rescued from boat collisions, plastic bags and more are brought to the hospital to be treated and in most cases, ultimately released back into the ocean.

Admission Not Included

Key Largo

The longest of the Florida Keys and the first Key we will arrive on when leaving the USA mainland. 3 of the most popular stops on Key Largo are the Caribbean Club, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and the African Queen. Two of these locations have had Hollywood inspiration. Divers and even snorkelers will find many interesting features to explore in the clear, warm waters.

Self guided tour was not continuous. Had to drive many miles between comments. No mention of places to eat. Maybe I booked the wrong guide. The help chat was excellent to get the guide going. Very impressed with timeliness and knowledge of the help chat!

Great way to learn about tge jeys. We enjoyed the long, slow ride from Key West. We wished we had more time to check out more of the stops mentioned. The voice was easy to listen to and loved the expression of his voice.

Interesting information and very good directions. We took several of the suggestions to make stops or try places. This is a great value for the price and the GPS worked great for getting pertinent information at various points in the tour. It was easy to join up in the middle of the route.

Honestly, we did not know how this would work but cost was modest so we gave it a try. Installation was easy. We just followed the instructions. It works with GPS so informative segments of 1-2 minutes each pop up based on where you are ("up ahead, on the right..."). You can pause the speaking whenever you want. Seems like there are hundreds of segments. The speaker is Very engaging. Pleasant voice and great sense of humor!!!

I have to say my husband found this on Trip advisor whilst researching our trip and I was a little cynical about the value it would add. I could not have been more wrong- it was so informative, educational and funny. We wished we had more time to follow up on some suggestions of places to visit. The self drive tour around Key West was brilliant. I sincerely cannot recommend this enough and if it is not for you it can always be turned off. We will be looking for more places to purchase this.

This tour app was terrific!!! The directional info was spot on. There was lots of fun facts and good history of The Florida Keys. The narrator was fun and kept things interesting the entire trip. We will definitely use it in other vacation areas when it’s available

Clark R

This was a great way to experience the Keys! He pointed out so many spots we would have never thought to stop. We listened the whole way to Key West and back to Miami! Definitely do it!

Robert_w

The assistance from Viator to get the tour started was really good and prompt. I was expecting more from the guide. The audio was brief and not at all continuous. We were expecting recommendations for stops(beaches) and restaurants to visit. Maybe I read one tour and signed up for a different tour?

Paula_B

So glad I did this tour. It was very interesting and it made our drive enjoyable. So much informative. I love how it had sujested stops.

christam491
