Your Itinerary

Mooball

The start of your tour, the legendary Moo Moo roadhouse in Mooball. We will arrive with the bikes opposite the roadhouse and set you up with a great E Bike, helmet, hi-viz backpack and a smartphone app to guide you. After a short bike and safety briefing you are all set to begin your adventure.

Crabbes Creek

(Pass by)

Option to cycle back form Mooball to Crabbes Creek, a lovely section of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail and the first tunnel on the route at Mills Road. Crabbes Creek is also home to a very cute general store which you can visit with a short diversion off the Trail. Take the diversion to the store or just cruise on by through the countryside on your way to Burringbar.

Burringbar

The nicest village stop on your E bike ride on the Northern Rivers Rail Trail. Go check out The Barn (great coffee and food), Brooklyn (wine tasting room) and Heaths Antiquities, a shop with so much old stuff you won’t believe it. On leaving Burringbar ride though The Pines, one of my favourite sections of the trail, a huge canopy of Pine trees

Stokers Siding

Between Burringbar and Stokers is, for many, the highlight of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail, the Burringbar Tunnel. at 524m long is the longest tunnel on the Northern Rivers Rail Trail and an adventure to E Bike through it. Remember to turn on your bikes lights and look out for glowworms and micro bats! After the Tunnel arrive in Stokers Siding, a sleepy hinterland village with cute old station post office shop, pottery and Art Gallery.

Dunbible

Just before you arrive in Dunbible, cross the historic railway bridge at Dunbible Creek, a great photo opportunity on the Northern Rivers Rail Trail.

Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre

A slight detour off the rail trail takes you to the Tweed Regional Art Gallery. A stunning location, some great art and the gorgeous Apex restaurant. A great stop for any culture lovers.

Murwillumbah

The end of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail and a great location for lunch. We recommend Wild Thyme dining, Ju Jus or Relish if you want a simple cafe, or the Imperial Hotel (and award winning gelato bar next door!) for a pub lunch. Or keep going a bit further to the M Arts Precinct.

M|Arts Precinct

The awesome M Arts precinct in Murwillumbah. A collection of artists and creative businesses all under one roof. Browse the artists, enjoy some great food at Bistro Livi, Ben’s patisserie or the cheese shop, or have a drink at Mur bar (also the home of Spangled Drongo Brewery). Not to be missed for any visit to Murwillumbah

Husk Distillers

The end point of the tour. Sit back and relax in the luscious grounds of Husk Farm Distillery. Have a bit to eat or one of their signature Squid Ink gin and tonics. We will then pick you and the bikes up and return to the start point at New Brighton.

The trail was a great mix of farmland, sugarcane fields, and rainforest. The bikes gave you a help up the hills which was appreciated. Husk Distillery was beautiful and a great prize for completing the ride. Although the seats are soft, of not used to riding distance then bike pants are recommended.

Great experience! I’d highly recommend booking a self tour to get out of Byron and enjoy the hinterland. Really friendly service, bikes are amazing quality and make the ride enjoyable - especially the hill climbs. We did the Husk Distillery, Rainforest & The Rail Trail - Self Guided E Bike Tour and stopped at the Tweed Regional Gallery, and had some lunch at the cafe in Murwillumbah before finishing off with a gin & tonic at Husk.

We had a fantastic time on our self guided tour. The Rail Trail is brilliant and we can't wait to see it extended to include the Byron segment (fingers crossed). We stopped at Hosanna for lunch which was delicious and a beautiful location. Highly recommend. Then it was back on our E bikes which made the day a breeze, especially when it came to the beautiful rainforest section. From there it was downhill to finish up at Husk Distillery. A superb way to end a wonderful day.

Had an amazing time!! Favourite thing we've done while on holiday in aus. Get to see so many amazing views from small towns, farmlands, rainforests and finish at a fancy distillery with gourmet foods and drinks. Easy ride and plenty of time to complete it. Bike Hire Murwillumbah Rail Trail We hired E bikes from Campbell from Better by Bikes at Byron from to ride the Rail Trail. The process went very smoothly with Campbell meeting us at Mooball at the nominated time as previously arranged.Campbell first explained the features of the E Bikes and suggested we go on a trial ride while he waiting so if we had any questions about the operation of the bikes he would be there to help.We did not need any further assistance from Campbell after the initial ride and we proceeded with our ride to Murwillumbah and back to Mooball. We stopped for a coffee break at Stockers Siding which was a good spot We would recommend Campbell from Better by Bikes at Byron for bike hire.Campbell met us at Mooball after the ride to collect the E Bikes and was interested in our experiences on the ride.
