**It was actually April 2023 but it only let me select May Our guide was Jim Madison and I couldn’t recommend him more. Not only is he a talented photographer, he’s also a quite gifted storyteller. I was so touched by the sharing of his life story that I actually became inspired to start sharing my own experiences through art and music. It was definitely a moment I’ll always remember. I’ve included some of his pictures here ~ Sylvie

It is was spiritually uplifting and the whole scenery was great. I was the only one on the tour and I could take a lot of pictures and my guide was truly great. I enjoyed it and I highly recommend it to everyone.

We had friends visiting with us from Germany, and wanted them to see Monument Valley. Plus, WE wanted to see Monument Valley ourselves. After reviewing TripAdvisor recommendations, my husband chose to tour with Jim of Monumental Tours! We were not disappointed! Jim was very kind and gracious. He stopped at several sites on our 2.5 hour open-air vehicle tour. He took time to point out the names of the monuments, etc. He is an interesting man, with many talents—teaches art (he himself was self-taught, though gifted). We had no idea he would take wonderful photos of our party with our own cellphones! Amazing treasures of our tour! We were able to visit a hogan wherein a tribal woman demonstrated how she prepares sheared wool and spins it into yarn for her weaving. We all found the sights beautiful, and the education we received very interesting. For those interested in shopping, there were also opportunities to buy crafts from the Dine (dihn-eh, as pronounced by Jim to me)…which we commonly refer to as the Navajo peoples. Their preference is their original name of Dine. We all greatly appreciated all Jim did for us and with us on our exciting tour! Recommend!

We scheduled a 2 1/2 hour tour with Jim. There were 4 of us and it ended up being a private tour. I cannot say anything negative about this adventure. The sights are simply fantastic. It was a fabulous tour, especially with our guide, Jim. He is a fascinating, highly skilled man who loves Monument Valley and knows all you want to know about it. He has amazing photographic and artistic skills. He also has been a free climber, and climbed most of the monuments at some point in his life. He has many stories to tell about the area and his upbringing there. The time flew by during our tour, and before we realized the time, our 2 1/2 hour tour had become a 3 hour tour. I heartily recommend it!

We arrived from Texas (originally from Hungary) with two kids and we chose to book the longer trip through the valley. We could see that for our guide, Jim Madison Sr., this was not the first time he had done this. He talked about the region by weaving in his own personal experiences, making the trip even more relatable, and took some jaw-dropping pictures. We recommend that tourists take the longer route, so people can get to places they cannot reach with their own car. Our children also enjoyed the walk-around studded with information about important spiritual stations for the people living here. As a tip (since I no longer had cash), I gave our guide a personal item of mine that has brought me good luck in recent years, so I trust it will bring good luck to him as well. We try to return here every few years, as we can find a natural wonder here that we cannot find anywhere else. We will come next time as soon as time permits.

We had such an amazing time with Jimbo. What a lovely man and so adventurous. We sped across all the trails in the back of his jeep which was great fun. He took us to some wonderful places that you can’t go without a guide and shared some very personal stories that were so moving. We felt we really got to know his land and traditions. Then there was the crazy side of Jimbo. At one point he disappeared through a hole - great photo of his shoes and backside! Then he took the most amazing photos of us through the hole. He also got us climbing up rocks and into little look out rooms in caves. Such fun! He is also an artist and a photographer- the tour is worth it alone just for the absolutely wonderful photos you will have. We cannot thank Jimbo enough - we did two half day tours with him and would have done more if we were there longer. Thank you Jimbo from the bottom of our hearts. We hope you have a happy and healthy future x PS he loves cherries, biscuits and bananas!

Jimbo or Jim Madison was our excellent tour guide. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed Jimbo personally and the fantastic tour of the back country he gave us. With out two dogs we were the only ones in the truck that day and Jimbo was wonderful with us AND our dogs. He loves animals. Pictures that Jimbo took for us were incredible and this tour really made an impact on us beyond our whole trip. We toured 5 national parks in Utah and Monument Valley was our favorite. Jimbo was a large part of that sharing the culture and the spirit of the land with us! Kim and Terry thank you Jimbo!

Me and my family from Spain took a tour with Jim (aka “Jimbo”) in Monument Valley and it could not have been a better experience. We felt like in a safari going through the middle of the canyon in deep sand and with animals and desert all around. Jim was an amazing guide, he would stop at every single point where there was something to see and he would tell us a piece of history, or a rock formation to find, or cool photography spots for the best pictures. He even sang a Navajo song he learned from his dad under the Big Hogan! He is really passionate about sharing his land with others and from a visitor perspective we really appreciated that as it made our experience even more unique. I would definitely do this tour again and definitely recommend it!

Jimmy, my tour guide on a 6 hour photography tour, was amazing! He warked really hard to make sure I had plenty of time to set-up my shots and showed me the best angles to shoot. He's also a master of cellphone camera trickery in panoramic mode. It was so fun! Jimmy is the best!!

Our tour guide Jim Madison was excellent! We left there with so much knowledge. He took some great pictures of our family in this beautiful landscape. So energetic! Our 7 year old loved him and hopes to see him again someday. He mentions him often. Our tour was almost two weeks ago and Jim and our experience there have been on our minds ever since. It was an awesome experience in a absolutely beautiful place. Highly recommend!!
