    José offers guided walks in small groups or a private tour. We hiked for a few hours around an area of three volcanoes, together with two Belgian ladies. The group was really good fun and the walk was well chosen by José, with scenery that varied from paths through lovely forests and across sometimes arid fields of lava from historic eruptions on the island. José is a Tenerife native and he is passionate about its ecology and the threats posed to the island by mass tourism and over-development . He is very generous with his knowledge, often pausing the walk to point out particular plants or geology. His goal is clearly to share his understanding and experiences, at least as much as offering a good walk through a fascinating part of Tenerife. As well as being highly professional in terms of safety and good practices in the environment, José is good humoured and tries hard to make sure that everyone has a good time.

    Our family of five (parents in sixties, plus 3 young adult children), planned a half day hike with Sergio during our stay in Tenerife. Sergio was very professional and well prepared for the hike and he had trekking poles for all of us. He was excellent at pointing out the flora and fauna of Teno Rural park. His personality is friendly, engaging and energetic. We finished our hike at a mountain village restaurant, that Sergio had recommended, where we had a delicious and leisurely late lunch. It was wonderful to spend some time in the mountains with great views and fresh air. Truly another side to Tenerife that is not obvious to most visitors.

    Sergio showed us many interesting things and made the hike fun and entertaining. The landscape is lovely and his company and guidance really nice.

    We have hiked with Sergio before and didn't hesitate to contact him again on our return to Tenerife. This time he showed us two different hikes, both very interesting, with wonderful views. Sergio gave us all the information we needed to get the bus to meet him, provided a nice picnic and was fun and interesting company. Excellent language skills - highly recommended.

    Sergio was a wonderful guide! We learned so much on this hike about the local plants, wildlife, and history - not to mention the beautiful scenery. Sergio took great care of our group, making sure everyone was enjoying themselves and that the pace worker for everyone. It’s an experience you just cannot get if you go by yourself or in a large tour group. Would highly recommend!

    What to expect

    We will reach the starting point of the hike by public bus. You will hike on ancient and remote paths through the Teno Nature Park in the northwest of Tenerife. It is one of the island's most beautiful natural areas that has preserved most of its ecological, scenic and cultural wealth, largely thanks to its isolated position. Once you have set your eyes on the volcanic topography of the area, it will be incredible to think that people used to live there. You will have panoramic views of La Gomera & La Palma island, magnificent cliffs, valleys and laurel forests and we'll pass through old villages with wonderful pieces of traditional architecture. On this hiking tour you have the possibility to taste typical regional gastronomy and products like goat cheese and meat, wine and pastries in a local bar (optional). At the end of the hike the public bus will bring us to the meeting point in Buenavista del Norte. Discover the ancient trails of the mountain shepherds, the traditions, the local culture, the gastronomy and the way of life of this rural environment with unforgettable panoramic views! Distance 9 km. Walking time approx. 4 hours. Elevation gain +/- 535 m. Medium difficulty.
