Cueva de Nerja

The enormous prehistoric Caves of Nerja boast extensive grottoes, archaeological remains, and the world’s largest column, rising 105 feet (32 meters) up. The cave formations look like organ pipes, and the area’s evidence of human habitation stretches back 25,000 years to the Paleolithic Period. Galleries display artifacts, paintings, and skeletons unearthed since the caves were discovered in 1959.

The trip itself is totally worth it. The caves are impressive and the two small cities are nice. However we payed 150 for that per person, some even more. That is a rip off! For that money you can get a private taxi for the whole day. The guide didn’t speak a word English (we previously assumed that the tour would be that expensive because of English language proficiency…) and he didn’t know anything about the tour (way to the entrance, timetable or about the cities,…)

The trip was expensive, but it was worth it. The caves, Frigiliana and the balcony of Europe were all beyond belief. Just beautiful. Breathtaking beautiful. The only thing we didn’t like was that our guide did not speak English. That was very unfortunate. But the drive was great.

Guide was a Spanish speaking taxi driver and gave no commentary at all. The whole tour seemed very unorganised. The guide at the village in Frijilana spoke English but most of her commentary was directed to the Spanish tourists. Would not recommend this tour to English tourists.

This is a scam tour. I wish I believed the reviews but I thought that people are different. First of all they told me they need to reschedule the tour some other day and I agreed. They sent me the meeting point and time via whatsup they even sent me the picture of the location and I was there 15 minutes before, waited until they were late 10 minutes and contacted them via whatsup they told me they are sorry the driver is on the way and will be there in 5 minutes and I waited 20 more minutes and told them he didn’t come. They told me that the driver came and picked up some people and I said no one came and no one is here but me. They called me to convince me that the driver was there and he wouldn’t lie!!! And I might be at the wrong location which was not true. They wasted my time and day. I have been booking through viator for a long time this never happened to me before. I contacted viator requesting a refund.

Minivan turned up on time at the pickup location. The driver, Paco, was also our guide. He conducted the tour in English and Spanish and was very clear with instructions about where and when to meet up after giving us free time. We did skip the line and also free entry to the museum in Nerja was included in the tickets for the caves. It was a very enjoyable and interesting day with a lovely group of people. Definitely recommend.

I like that although my son and I were the only ones who signed up, we still got to go. Our guide only knew a little English, and I wished he knew more becausewe asked for a English speaking guide during booking. It was very cool to go into the cave. The free time we had to explore was wonderful.

they called me evening to let me know trip is canceled , 2 of my 3 day trips were canceled , leaving me with no other plans since all other day trips were booked , i dont undertsand how tripadvisor let operator cancle night before . we travelers spend tons of money to plan our travel and , this kind of cancelations leaves us with no plans since all other day trips are booked , we cant book last minute . tripadvisor is not treating travelers with the same commitment as the operators . if i paid for a trip the operator should exceute , or pay high fine fo cancalation ...

Had a great time exploring Nerja and Frigiliana. Even though there was only two of us, the tour went ahead and we travelled in a large comfortable taxi from Malaga to all the beautiful sites of Costa del Sol. The organisation was great and there was no issue with communication. The guide was relaxed and easy going and even helped us when we got lost in the twisty streets of Nerja. Guide also explained us where to get the best views in the stunning streets of Frigiliana, and we were able to make most of our visit there. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour!

Avoid at all cost! This is a scam!! We were supposed to have a guided tour, we got a taxi driver who could not communicate at all. He gave us conflicting times as when we were supposed to be back at car, could not explain where to meet. Did not tell us anything about the places we were visiting, just stoped the car and opened the door. We paid for a service, a lot of money - and we never received it!!
