Cabo da Roca

Cabo da Roca is continental Europe’s western most point. It features a beautiful promontory and viewpoint where you can be overwhelmed by the rugged coastline of the Atlantic and the 18th century lighthouse. There are several trails in the area to find different perspectives to the ocean. One of them let’s you take a glimpse of the beautiful Praia da Ursa.

Praia da ursa

Praia da Ursa is an amazing beach, the western most beach in Europe, due to its proximity with Cabo da Roca. Ursa (female bear) and Gigante are two majestic rocks imposing in the beach. The sea here is pure Atlantic, thus with waves and cold water. The hike down to the beach is a bit hard and not recommended for small children. Nevertheless after the effort it will be absolutely worthwhile when you get there.

Frederico was an awesome tour guide and driver. I made a mistake on the booking day and he was able to accommodate us without going through any hassle of changing it. I appreciated that very much. He was very knowledgeable on the history and also gave great suggestions on spots to visit on the tour. We highly recommend Frederico.

We had a wonderful tour to Sintra with Frederico. He was very willing to alter the tour to meet our needs and visit the palaces we preferred. He also included beautiful walking tours in the Sintra gardens. He was extremely knowledgeable and provided very helpful historical context. We loved every minute. The car was very comfortable and we appreciated the longer return along the coast to see the western most point in continental Europe. Great and comfortable tour.

One of our most beautiful experiences in Portugal was the Sintra Palace visit and the walk at Cabo da Roca. It was a rainy day, but the amazing building and the mystical garden made us forget the wet weather. Frederico guided us and explained the history with great knowledge and enjoyment, the children also hung on his words. His endlessly kind personality and great sense of humor captivated everyone. He led us to the best cafe in town, where fresh, sweet-smelling and delicious pastries awaited us. And Cabo da Roca - we felt the Earth really ends here! Thank you, Frederico!

We spent a wonderful family day in Sintra in June 2023. Frederico is an excellent tour guide and he connected very well not just with us adults but also with our smaller kids. The children enjoyed very much his presence and his comfortable car and we appreciated every moment of the tour including the short break at Cabo da Roca, the nice walk in the beautiful garden of the Pena Palace and of course the visit of the Palace itself. Frederico has explained all relevant details in a way that was entertaining to all of us regardless of age. His attitude, his approach was so positive that we enjoyed the entire tour in spite of the rain that surprised us during the day. Highly recommended to all who would like to learn about Portugal's natural heritage, it's people and it's past and present history.

Just returned from a wonderful day with Frederico at EpiTravels. Frederico met us at the hotel on time and we have a lovely day visiting Pena palace, the Moorish castles and other nearby features. There was an unannounced closure of the medieval site in Sintra, so Frederico adjusted quickly and we explored the western edge of the Country and stopped by some other sites (Belem Tower and Navigators Monument) to continue our day. He was very friendly, attentive to our needs and very knowledgeable of Portugals history.

My husband and I did the Sintra Day Tour with Frederico of EpiTravels. He knows his history and is able to bring the sites alive in a way that you will truly enjoy. You'll also find that he takes care of every detail to insure that his clients have a great experience. Frederico had purchased tickets online so there was no wait at attractions and he picked us up close to the entrances to accommodate us. This will maximize your time and the value of the tour. And, he has a new and comfortable vehicle. Frederico's English is impeccable and he will be your gracious host.
