Sitka's Bald Eagle Center operates with bird care professionals assisted by volunteers to rescue birds, provide them with rehabilitative care and hopefully release them back into the wild. After your introduction to the center, a presentation with one of the Center's educational birds will take place. Time will be available to view the flight center, clinic window, outside deck habitat areas and gift shop.

 

Sitka National Historic Park/Totem Park

Next, you'll visit the Sitka National Historical Park, where the 1804 "Battle of Alaska", was fought. The park hosts totem lined trails, cultural exhibits and carving rooms where native Alaskan artisans demonstrate their totemic art form. Walk the nature trail, view cultural exhibits and video presentation, or talk with local native artists about their cultural art form.

The final stop is visiting the Fortress of the Bears, which allows you get within 25 feet of Alaska's brown bears in a naturalized setting. You will enjoy observing 3 populations of bears from a covered viewing platform and interact with an experienced naturalist. Our tour guide, Christian Fabian, was excellent. He told us the history of Sitka and facts about each place we stopped. The tour was worth every penny.

Upon arrival to the start of the tour they did not have a record of us. After searching your email, they discovered you were an independent schedular and not connected with the actual tour group. You also scheduled us a 3:30, departure around an hour later. Had it not been for a group not showing up we would have not made the tour and I would have lo9st over $800.00 dollars. Not pleased at all.

We had a great tour guide Mike , and he made sure we had an awesome time ! The totem poles were beautiful and walking on the beach was nice . We enjoyed watching the bears , and seeing all the different birds ,, very interesting. A good time was had by all !

My family of nine did the excursion and was pleasantly surprised with the experience. Our tour guide was a local so her vast knowledge of the area and the sites was much appreciated. The time at each location was well planned, giving us ample time to enjoy each stop.

I learned a lot of information about the bears living in Alaska. I enjoyed watching the brother and sister bears play/fight. It was also great to see eagles up close and to learn about how the facility was helping rehabilitate them.

We were unable to make excursion due to delays with getting off the ship and wasnt offered any solutions. Very disappointed that we werent offered any resolution to the issue that was out of our control.
