Your Itinerary

Burford

The day begins by departing London and travelling towards the quintessentially English countryside of The Cotswolds; an area that is famous for its beautiful landscape, charming villages and honey-coloured stone cottages. Our first stop will be the traditional town of Burford; known as the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’. This is a historic place where many houses date back nearly 600 years and little has changed for centuries. During the visit there will be time to explore Burford, visit the magnificent church and stroll along the high street to visit a mix of independent family-run shops.

Bibury

The village of Bibury is often described as the 'prettiest village in England'. It's charming scene is a snapshot of traditional English country life. Wander along the gentle river and see the iconic Arlington Row; a set of weavers cottages that are now one of the symbols of the Cotswolds.

Bourton-on-the-Water

Our lunch stop is the charming settlement of Bourton-on-the-Water. The town's river setting has seen it become known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds'.

Stow-on-the-Wold

We'll continue through the countryside to Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds that is a jumble of ancient inns & antique shops located around the bustling market square. This historic town was a place of inspiration for JRR Tolkien and is also where the last battle of the English Civil War took place in 1646.

A great introduction to The Cotswolds. Already hoping to return to see more of the area and other villages in the future. This day trip stops in 4 different villages, each is unique. Our driver, James, was very knowledgeable and has family that actually live in the Cotswolds, meaning he knows the area really well from a lifetime of visiting. The pick-up spot was pretty convenient, just a few blocks from the Tube and we were allowed to use the coffee shop restroom before boarding the bus. The only complaint we would have is the tightness of the bus seating. The seats are pretty narrow, even more narrow than a plane seat in economy and the pitch (space between backrests) is less than a plane also. The recline is more than a typical plane seat and the seats are closer together so its very intrusive and uncomfortable for the person behind. I would suggest to the tour operator / driver that at the start of the day they make a request that no one recline their seat (or simply deactivate the recline functions on the seats altogether.) Besides some discomfort on the bus, the trip was really great and worth the price. We liked being independent in the villages to explore on our own rather than follow a guide all day.

My daughter and I loved our tour to the Cotswolds with driver/guide Jamie. He was very friendly and informative, and a safe driver. Pickup was easy at Urban Baristas. The only slight negative is how adamant the in-charge person was about everyone making sure they took care of ALL businesses (food, bathroom, etc.) BEFORE checking in and being assigned to a minibus. I guess that's to keep things going smoothly, which I appreciate, but just felt a bit overbearing. By the way, make sure to queue up for the bathroom at Urban Baristas early on, as there is only 1 available. We loved how comfortable the Mercedes minibus was to tour in, and having only 15 passengers. Jamie got us "lost" and drove down some small roads, which we all loved seeing the very picturesque houses, etc. I also appreciate him handing out 20 pence coins for bathrooms. My daughter found a jacket at the Antiques store in Stow-on-the-Wold, so she was a very happy camper! We would not hesitate to take another tour with GO-Tours!

This was my first full day in England and afterwards I feared that my trip had peaked at the start and nothing would top this. The tour guide, Claire, was phenomenal. She was very personable, shared so much interesting information and even took us to things the tour did not include. We got to take scenic routes to the destinations and even went by an extra site. The actual time in the villages was incredible. Honestly, they exceeded my expeditions. They are absolutely charming and in each one you’ll find something a little different. I loved having lunch at a cozy cafe, I enjoyed a “cream tea” in another village and I had a marvelous time simply strolling around and snapping pics of the cute stone buildings and gardens. It did rain, but I honestly thought the drizzle added my coziness to the quaint villages. I’d gladly do this tour again and was longing for the countryside once I returned to London.

Our driver & tour guide (Jamie) was WONDERFUL!!! He was an excellent driver, extremely caring, and had knowledgeable insights about all of our different visited areas. The Cotswolds are ABSOLUTELY DREAMY! Each stop was equally impressive… we would happily repeat this tour on our next visit into London!

Our day trip to the cotswolds was amazing. The weather was great for walking around the 4 villages we visited. Our guide james was entertaining and gave us much local information that made the visit more interesting. I would definitely recommend gotours if you're visiting london. PS...James...you need to add black sabbath and sex pistols to your play list!!!

After a horrible experience with one of your competitors the day before we found this one to be very professional. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, easy to understand and humorous. Excellent job.

We had the most lovely day. All the towns were beautiful and we had enough time in each town to see what we wanted to see. James was awesome because he always made sure we had enough time at each spot, told us interesting history, always told everyone where the public restrooms were and good pubs. Of note, sheep grazing along the hillside, the JRR Tolkein door and the acclaimed oldest pub in England. Pickup and drop off were a breeze. I am so glad we did this tour instead of renting a car because we would have never been able to navigate those little streets…. Very comfortable ride.

Tour was well organized and on time . Company uses mini buses for 16 people on board . Jamie , our driver and tour director , was informative and friendly . Despite the rainy day , we visited all 4 villages and had enough time for sightseeing and lunch . Would definitely recommend this tour !
