Driver Rene is great. Very knowledgeable. Went the extra mile to complement the plantation tours. Whitney was self guided with audio. Excellent. Laura provided a live guide. She is very knowledgeable; at times a bit verbose. We have no regrets about either tour.

Perfect tour to do solo, you can really hear and learn about the plantations real history schools do not teach!

This was an excellent small group tour of two plantations - Laura and Whitney. Our guide, René Brunot, was an excellent driver and guide. We appreciated that both plantations addressed the reality of the lives of the enslaved and didn't just focus on the lives of the plantations owners or the houses.

Best part of the experience was our guide Stephen. Very informed about the history and culture of New Orleans. He kept us entertained for the entire one hour trip from our hotel to the plantation and on the trip back. Stephen loves his job and it is apparent in the passion he shows when telling his many stories about the history and culture of the region during the pre and post civil war period as well as present day Nola. Make sure you get Stephen as your guide!

Our Driver, Ellen was very knowledgeable and funny. The tour guides at both plantations did a great job talking about the families that called the plantation home.

We took the Plantation tour with Rene as our tour Guide. We had a fun an informative tour. We were picked up promptly at our hotel by Rene who was driving a clean, comfortable van. On the 45 minute drove to the plantation Rene told us much about New Orleans the city he grew up in and has lived I'm for many years. Our first stop was the Laura Plantation a French style Plantation. This was a very fascinating place. We got an up close glimpse of not only the Plantation house, but also of the lives of the slaves that lived there and worked the sugar cane fields. Our second stop was the St. James, which was an American style Plantation where where learned how cane is turned into sugar, and found out that sugar is very healthy and is not related to obesity. I did not know that! On the way home Rene regaled us with stories of his life as TV meteorologist in Montreal and has a cooking instructor in New Orleans. He explained why Katrina was so devastating to New Orleans from meteorological point of view. He gave us great tips on New Orleans cuisine, nightlife and sight seeing It was a wonderful tour and Rene was a fabulous guide. Highly recommend this tour!

Giselle was an excellent tour guide and shared many fun stories about New Orleans with the group. St. Joseph’s Plantation was a wonderful stop with a 7th generation family member leading a tour of the mansion. This stop also included a video that explained how sugar cane is processed and harvested. I would definitely take another tour on my next visit!
