    Laura was a wonderful surprise. Not only was she warm, enthusiastic and upbeat, she knew the history of the communities we visited, had a personal relationship with the vendors, restaurants and shop keepers, and she understood how the food we ate connected the world together. A fantastic tour and a great way to start our first visit to Portugal. Highly recommend!

    Inez was a fantastic, hospitable tour guide. We tried so many delicious seafood--sardines, clams, octopus, etc. as well as stopped for a port cocktail. She was also a fantastic story teller and historian, and we really benefited from her vast knowledge of Portugal and its culture. We covered a few miles of the city, starting at the Market and moving to local shops and the waterfront. It was our favorite experience in Lisbon!

    Our tour with Kika was a perfect glimpse into Portugese history and culture through it’s cuisine. We spent a lovely day walking around diverse neighborhoods off the beaten track, meeting local business people, having insightful chats with our guide and of course sampling delectable dishes. The day was enjoyable for the entire family and we are very grateful for the experience! It was also very helpful to do this tour at the beginning of our holiday in Portugal as we got lots of valuable tips and recommendations for the rest of our journey. This was our fourth tour with Culinary Backstreets (we have also done tours with them in Istanbul x2 and Palermo) and we can’t wait for the next one!

    My first culinary Backstreets tour was in Lisbon in February, led by Ines, the most phenomenal tour guide around! I’ve now been back a second time and have done both the seafood tour and the Lisbon awakens tour. Amazing food at every stop, drinks in hand, learning about the history in fun ways — I think this is the absolute best way to see and experience Lisbon. I recommend Ines and Culinary Backstreets to every single person person I know who visits the city. 10/10!

    Kika is a precious person and an amazing guide! We had a great day and tasted lots of different foods and learned a lot! She was delightful and accommodating (we wanted to taste barnacles and she obliged!) and introduced us to wonderful people along the way who are passionate and love their jobs in the food industry. It was a great way to spend a day in Lisbon!
