Our pilots (Michael flying in, Theo flying out) were outstanding - professional, friendly and knowledgeable. They were also excellent pilots(!) which was reassuring when flying into such a remote and mountainous region in a tiny plane. Theo was our guide for the boat tour and honestly he (and the sunny day) made our whole day perfect. It began with morning tea in the museum, then the trip by boat out to Bathurst Harbour. The day was exceptionally calm and sunny (a rarity in these parts), so Theo was able to stop the boat in the midst of the harbour so we could absorb the silence and scenery. I'd have to say that moment was a lifelong dream, and it didn't disappoint. It was a perfect, still morning with luminous clouds and glittering reflections of the mountains all around. Magical! We were also very lucky to be able to venture as far as Port Davey. On the way back we stopped for a delicious lunch and wine on 'Balmoral Beach' in the warm sunshine, then had a look at a sea eagle's nest and Win and Clyde's old home on the riverbank before heading back to the airstrip. Theo flew back to Hobart over the mountains so that we could see the same country from the air, pointing out walking trails and landmarks, and talking about the history of this rare and precious wilderness area. Full marks to Par Avion office staff too - we were staying at Melaleuca for a few days before the tour, and were getting a big anxious about whether the tour would even happen (weather!) and even if we could get out before our food ran out! All in all, this trip was one of the best experiences of my life!

What a fantastic tour and such a privilege to be able to fly into one of the most remote parts of SW Tasmania. Our group travelled in the 10 and 6 seater planes. I got the back seat of the 6 seater which was brilliant in terms of the views. Our pilots were fantastic with great commentary and talked us through when to expect turbulence, particularly on the way home as we experienced some pretty strong winds and bumps flying over the mountains. The boat tour with Meg was fantastic and her knowledge of the area made the trip even more special. I would highly recommend this tour. If you are prone to a bit of motion sickness on planes, come prepared as it can be quite bumpy around this part of Tasmania. I don’t get air sick but my sneaky glass of red wine at lunchtime had other ideas on the return trip! However, it was worth it for the spectacular views.

Was a great tour very well organised from the flight from Hobart to Melaleuca to the Boat scenic ride. Pilot and Guide are extremely knowledgeable, accommodative and just very nice guys Thank you!

Fantastic experience of Tasmanian coastline with commentary to match both on plane, land and boat. Weather was perfect and water was mainly calm. Morning tea and lunch was great and well presented. Ample time to enjoy. Weather enabled us to take plenty of pictures. We were a group of 10 and we flew on the 4 seater which quite comfortable and enabled us to enjoy the view. Would definitely recommend this trip.

My wife, son and myself recently took the one day tour through Par Avion to the remote South West corner of Tasmania. This is an exciting, informative and enjoyable trip which we thoroughly recommend. The Par Avion team at the airport, the pilots and Greg who was our tour leader are all very enthusiastic and passionate about this part of the world and it is a privilege to be taken somewhere so utterly remote and untouched. Incredibly there are some hardy folk who over the decades have actually lived, worked and brought up their family here and it was wonderful to hear about their stories and to see where they lived and worked. We flew by plane to the Bathurst harbour area, did some easy walking and then transferred to a boat tour before returning in the late afternoon. Thank you again and keep the stories alive

You get a chance to experience the flight from front and back seat perspectives. On the ground , it’s just absolutely unspoilt and breathtakingly beautiful. Guide is entertaining too, with quite a bit of good banter.

What an amazing experience! Our pilot Ollie was welcoming & knowledgeable on both flights and deserves 10/10 for his landings! Tour guide Callum was next level… his enthusiasm for his job and the area were incredible. He interacted with all members of our group fabulously, including my 10 year old daughter. His love for the Southwest Wilderness was contagious. Morning tea & lunch were a beautiful showcase of Tassie as well. The scenery was simply mind blowing and our adventure is something I will fondly remember for many years to come. A once in a lifetime experience that is simply a MUST if you get the chance.

A thrilling unique experience, it's the only way to go (to experience the area unless you know someone with a yacht) with a knowledgeable guide who stays with the group all day, a friendly pilot making everybody at ease and giving information enroute, a superb luxury picnic lunch on a beach and a thrilling speedy boat ride on Bathurst Harbour out towards the ocean.

It has been on my to do list for some time to see Melaleuca and this is the perfect experience if you are not up to the week long walk on the South Coast Track. I've seen images of the scenery before but nothing prepares you for the view from the plane. I have never seen a mega pod of dolphins before. We had perfect weather and were able to fly close to several peaks including Federation, Hartz and Mount Bobs amoung others. The pilot Cam and tour guide Dave were so knowledgeable and really enthusiastic about the country they were showing us; they were super friendly and helpful with all requests made. We were fed very well, the lunch was particularly tasty. If there was anything I could change about the day it would have been asking our guide earlier if I could do some more walking around. We were on the boat for most of the tour, which was still really good.
