Your Itinerary

This is where we all meet to begin the tour. Here, our guide will explain the day's itinerary and give some basic logistical information. Here we'll also board the transportation service to go to the stargazing location which will take around 1 hour. Right next to this meeting spot, you can see the Cristiano Ronaldo Statue.

Vereda do Pico Ruivo

Our transportation service will drop us at Achada do Texeira parking lot. Few meters from here is our stargazing location. Our guide will start with a guided observation of the night sky, pointing at constellations, star navigation, nebulas and other cosmic objects. Travelers also have the opportunity to use astronomical binoculars and equipment for a better experience. Finally travelers have the chance to practice astrophotography.

The stargazing was wonderful. Juan is a really nice guide, prepared and attentive. We saw so many amazing things in the sky and he explained us a lot about why they are like that. If you come to Madeira it is a unique experience, so do not miss out :) The other important thing is to take warm clothes, because even if it's a "Spring island" it can get pretty chilly in the night up in the mountains. Thank you so much for the experience 🌠💫

The tour was really impressive. I have never seen the night sky so thoroughly and with good explanations. Juan is a very knowledgeable guide and friendly astronomer. It was a great pleasure to communicate with him and learn about our Universe. Juan and I enjoyed a great trip to Pico Ariero to observe the night sky. We had a number of tools at our disposal such as binoculars, a telescope and a laser to observe objects in the sky. Juan gave us a lot of interesting information about the universe, stars, planets, constellations, etc. Finally, he took some pictures of the starry sky for us, which are really amazing. We chose this experience because we wanted to see the night sky without the light smog that is everywhere in mainland Europe and Madeira seemed like the right place for us. This is another type of activity that you can experience in Madeira in addition to hiking, levadas and the sea. It was a very pleasant experience that enriched us. I can highly recommend.

Even though it was not an official tour as Juan was off, we really wanted to look at the sky with my bf so he invited us to the informal meeting he had organized with its friends. It was really kind to do so and he gave us fun explanations about the stars, the milky way... It is a nice experience that I recommend :) See you again

SUCH a great time watching the Perseid meteor shower with Juan and friends! I went with my girlfriend, and it was absolutely magical! We had the best time observing various stars, learning tons about space exploration and astronomy from Juan, and just being there away from the city. There were some clouds occasionally, but it didn't take away from the trip at all, so we would definitely come back again :)
