Jules was quite knowledgeable and personable. He was very familiar with the history and where to go that would be interesting and beautiful. The tour was just plain fun.

We had a wonderful day with our tour guide Simon. He was full of knowledge about Stonehenge and the area around Bath. Highly Recommend!

Great experience with Julie from In & Around Bath. She picked my husband and I up at our hotel at 9 AM, and described the beautiful scenery on the 1 hr drive to Stonehenge. She provided details about Stonehenge that we wouldn't otherwise had known and gave us plenty of time to explore the stones and visitors center. From there we drove through the countryside to the village of Horningsham in Wiltshire where we lunched at fancy local pub/restaurant on the extensive grounds of Longleat House. Next stop was Frome in Somerset where we toured St. Johns Church founded in 685 AD and Nunny Castle (dtd 1370), and then stopped at the local pub for the local cider. Delicious! We found In & Beyond Bath on the VisitBath website. There are a few other all-day driving tours available (some at lower prices but they were already booked). But, we have no regrets and completely enjoyed our day touring the area with Julie!

I had always wanted to visit Stonehenge, and havedrivenpasgnin numerous times over the years, but thus was my/our first visit and it was great. A lot of history to see, and imagine. The visitor centre is well organised, which adds to the positive experience.

We took three different tours with the company. I’m going to cover each with the same review. We had the pleasure of being guided by Max on the Stonehenge/Secret Bath and also a tour of the Cotswalds. Nigel gave us a quick walking tour of downtown Bath. Max obviously has the Bath and greater Cotswolds area in his DNA. He was an excellent driver of the two very practical and comfortable vehicles supplied by the firm. His route of small rural roadways kept us from seeing any evidence of modern retail shops with the exception of those in the little villages we visited. His inside knowledge of the area and its history made each village and points in between come alive. Honestly, these were areas my wife wanted to see but Max kept the journey unexpectedly interesting for me and the kids as well. Stopping at a couple pubs on each tour did not hurt. Nigel led us on a brief walking tour of downtown Bath which was a great baseline for its history, layout and recommended places to eat at/visit. He was knowledgeable and his information made our few days in town more efficient and interesting. If you’re looking for a personal, private tour in the Bath/Cotswalds area, I can’t imagine anyone doing a better job than the guys we worked with at this firm.

On our way back from Andalusia, Spain, we stopped in London for a few days to enjoy that fantastic city. On one of the days, we took an early morning train to Bath and joined two other travelers on a tour to Stonehenge AND as our gifted and talented guide called it, “Secret England”. The latter turned out to be a visit to several small villages in Somerset to explore their beauty historical significances. Our guide, Jules is a former history teacher and so he was able to really bring the history and importance of Stonehenge (luckily in late September there aren’t hordes of tourists) and the weather was glorious! After Stonehenge, we had a delightful pub lunch at The historic Bath Arms in Wiltshire (naturally ordered the fish and chips). Our next stop was at the village of Mells and St. Andrews Church and cemetery. The church has a long history, dating back to the 15th century and has several significant decorative features including memorials to some who die in World War 1. I really get a thrill out of visiting old cemeteries, especially to connect with people who evoke emotional memories from my early life (I have visited Pére Le Chaise in Paris three times to pay homage to Jim Morrison!). So, I was really intrigued when Jules led us to the cemetery at St. Andrews. We stopped at a gravestone that brought back so many memories of my days at Lawrence School, Lovedale and our classes in English Literature, reading First World War poems by Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon. I was standing at the grave of Siegfried Sassoon as Jules played a recording of Sassoon in his own words. I was 14 years old when we studied these poems about the horrors of war and at this time, I felt profound emotions that I had never felt during any travel visit or tour. Sassoon had experienced the horrific trench warfare of WW1 when chemical weapons were commonly used, and he became a fervent antiwar activist till his death. Hats off to Jules and In and Beyond Bath Tours for this moving yet wonderful experience. Overall, our visit went great and visiting Stonehenge and the countryside of Somerset with Jules was a fantastic day away from London.

Just got back from a wonderful day of touring with Simon. Our family of 4 (2 adults, 13 year old and 18 year old) had a great time seeing Stonehenge in the AM and some of the English countryside (Mells and Nunney) in the afternoon. Simon was easy to talk with and clearly knows a ton about the region (and beyond). Really neat stories about the history. Communication was also excellent, including a call the day prior to confirm pick-up details. Very attentive. Really a wonderful day. Thank you!

Could not recommend this tour company more - Jules was incredibly helpful in our booking and we had the most lovely day with Max, our tour guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable and tailored the day perfectly to our family (which included three children ages 14, 12, and 8). We toured Stonehenge, went to a lovely pub for lunch, walked through a beautiful castle ruin, and learned so much about the history of the area. Thank you, Max!!

We had a lovely time with Max seeing Stonehenge and a few surprise locations nearby (south of Bath). He picked us up early at our hotel! The lunch spot was amazing and even included a play area, a huge plus when traveling with a toddler. This private tour allowed our party (two seniors, two adults, and a wiggly toddler) the chance to discuss local history at a pace that worked for us. I would highly recommend this tour and these tour guides for this or other offerings. Definitely looking them up for our next England adventure. My father-in-law commented many times that this was highlight of a three week tour of England.
