We were all exhausted from the trip from the US and had this walking tour booked in case our hotel was ready. We figured it would be a good opportunity to kill some time. It was so much more. Diogo was our guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history and area. He brought us to see some great sites and shops where the “locals” go. We started the tour with a brunch (1030am)- tea (made on the island) local cheese, breads and pastries. Then we walked throughout this historic town. We capped off with the most amazing lunch (13:00) which had 5 courses. The food and wine were delicious and incredibly filling. It was a fantastic way to spend the day to learn and appreciate this beautiful island.

Definitely slot this in at the beginning of your trip to give yourself ideas for your stay! Fred was great to spend time with! This tour gave us a whole new perspective on the Azores & Sao Miguel!

We had an amazing experience with our tour guide Diogo. He was passionate and thorough in his knowledgeable explanation of the city history. The food was delicious and captured all the favorites that Ponte Delgado has to offer. I would return and recommend this trip to friends and family.

This is a great tour, starting with a greeting and overview of the city by the tour company owner, Rafael, who accommodated a change of the tour time when our cruise ship ran late. He dropped us off with Fred at a local restaurant where we dined on delicious limpets, grilled octopus, and a filet of beef cooked on a hot stone. Wine too. Fred then walked us around town, including stops at an amazing botanical garden and a Jesuit church (now a museum) with detailed wood carvings inside. We finished our day with dessert at a local cafe near the cruse ship port. The tour is expensive by usual standards, but we felt it was worth it when all was said and done.

My husband and I had a wonderful time touring and eating our way thru Ponta Delgada with our guide Fred. It was a lovely day with a relaxed pace. Fred was engaging and knowledgable on a wide range topics about the Azores and Sao Miguel. The food was great!

Rafael provided a very unique experience for us. I would recommend the Sunday tour for anyone interested in the more nuanced pieces of azorean history and lore. The food provided was sustaining and nourishing, food for the soul and for good conversation. If you are more interested in a historical experience for a Sunday (most of the notable restaurants are closed Sunday) then this tour is for you. The food was still fantastic. The biggest standout was the in depth knowledge Rafael had about the magnificent island that is Sao Miguel. This was a birthday experience my partner booked and I have not had any birthday more unique.

Absolutely amazing! Beautiful scenery, historical culture and terrific local cuisine. Michael was so informative and just a really fun personality, all around great tour guide and experience!

Michael was very knowledgeable. He showed us incredible places (church, museum, park, restaurants) and told fascinating stories about them. He was patient, flexible, and fun to be with. The Sunday meal was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, carefully managed by our great guide. We would strongly recommend any tour led by Michael!

This tour was amazing, start to finish! I highly recommend, especially if you’re new to the island. We visited so many places that I wasn’t expecting/didn’t know about. Come hungry because the food is delectable and plentiful! Rafael is a fun and charismatic guide, extremely knowledgeable and great company for the afternoon. To sum it up: I saw a lot, learned a lot, and ate a lot!
