Office of Tourism and Congress of Metropolis of Lyon

At 1:50 pm, our guide English Speaking guide will meet you in front of Lyon Office de Tourisme building main entrance door located on Bellecour Square (50 m opposite Le Royal Hotel). After a short walk, participants will get on the 8 seaters minivan to begin the Cotes du Rhone wine tour.

Theatre de Vienne

En route to the Rhone Valley, stop in Vienne to enjoy a spectacular view on the 2000 year’s old roman theatre and the stunning panorama on the Rhone Valley. With your guide, learn about the "terroir" & the different grapes characteristics of the Northern Cotes du Rhone region.

Ampuis

cross Ampuis town, the world capital of Syrah and visit "Cote Rotie" vineyards literally "roasted hillside". Drive on the precipitous vertigo inducing terraced slopes of "Cote Brune" and "Cote Blonde" and appreciate the 30 to 60 degree angles hills bathed in sun facing the beautiful Rhône River.

Condrieu

(Pass by)

Cross Condrieu town and learn about the Viognier grape varietal and how it almost disappeard in the 1960's.

Chavanay

Push the door of a first family winery and after a short visit, wine-taste 6 different Cotes du Rhone wines among them, some Condrieu, St Joseph or/and Cote Rotie appellations.

Malleval

After a short drive, discover a second family winery. With your guide, enjoy a private tour of the facilities and learn some secrets about the unique Rhone wine-making savoir-faire and the art of barrel aging. Then, taste 5 different Cotes du Rhone wines, 3 reds and 3 whites including Condrieu, St Joseph and Cote Rotie famous appellations.

We had such a great wine tour experience led by Olivier of Kanpai Tourisme! We are a family of seven who were visiting Lyon from San Francisco/Boston and we were interested in exploring the Côtes du Rhône region. The afternoon tour took us through some beautiful sites in the northern part of the region, and we tried Syrahs and Viogniers from two great wineries. It was such an educational, scenic, and fun afternoon. Olivier was a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!

He was very accommodating, punctual and answered all of our questions with ease. He also speaks perfect English which was a huge plus for our group. We all felt that this was one of our highlights of our visit to Lyon. The Mercedes 8 passenger van was clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend his tours.

Olivier was an excellent guide and a master at herding our wandering family. It was delightful being out in the countryside and seeing the historic division of vineyards, with the grape vines standing straight and proud in the sunlight. We enjoyed both of the hosts who gave us detailed information about how the vines are nurtured and what happens to the grapes before they are bottled. A great day!

Vi besøkte Lyon i oktober 2018 og bestilte denne turen for å få se litt av vinområdene i nærheten og prøve litt vinsmaking. Turen var overraskende bra med kunnskapsrik og meget hyggelig guide. Vi besøkte flere vingårder og smakte mye god vin. Spennende å høre historien om Syrah druen og besøke området som man mener er opphavet til denne fantastiske druen :)
