We always like to start learning about a place through its food since we are foodies. Letizia was our guide and she was exceptional in explaining the foods unique to both Sicily and Ortigia. This being our second time in Ortigia, she structured our tour to make sure we learned new things about the food and the town. We also discovered that we had taken a cooking class with her brother during our visit to Ortigia last year. We highly recommend the cooking class too! It was one of the highlights of our trip last year. Letizia took us through the farmers market, letting us try different foods and teaching us about different ingredients that make up many Sicilian dishes. We also stopped off at several different eateries for tastings. It was during these times we got to learn about her and her family. By the end of the tour, it was like visiting a friend in Ortigia. I highly recommend this tour especially for first time visitors to Ortigia as well as the cooking class offered by her company, Ortigia Flavour. It will most certainly be the highlight of your trip.

There was a great short walking tour of ortigia city highlights with a true local! That’s when we started to eat our way around the market. Beware there’s a lot of food to eat! We had leftovers for two other meals. Arancina, focaccia, canola, all delicious! We could ask lots of questions to Laëtizia about everything related to Sicily, Sicilian food and local and Sicilian history and culture. She was always eager to give us the interesting details and color commentary, great tour, make sure that you start with an empty stomach 😄

Letizia is true Sicilian patriot and very knowledgeable person. Really nicely connects food tour stops with history and interesting facts about Sicily and Syracuse. We’ve enjoyed time with Letizia a lot!

Walking, talking, eating. Repeat 3x. Great way to explore Ortigia. Tip: skip breakfast, you will need all the appetite you can bring.

Whenever I go to a new place one important thing I love to learn about is the food. Food brings people together and food tells you a lot about an areas culture and traditions. Today I enjoyed a wonderful food and city tour with Letizia. We went to some local places tasting everything from pastries, panini’s and of course meats and cheeses. I loved the trip to the local market and I appreciated Letizia and her knowledge of the food we tasted, how it’s made and how it came to be part of the local delicacy. If you are in the area of Ortigia/Siracusa I highly recommend booking this tour. You will leave with a bit of history and a happy tummy!

If you’re looking for a guide to give insights to and information about the region as you savor its cuisine, Giuseppe is the right guy! He’s friendly, knowledgeable and engaging and provided a wonderful and interesting tour of Ortigia with delicious food along the way. We met at a caffe and he gave us an overview of Sicily and Siracusa while we sampled some arancini and other local snacks. He took us to the market and several other other spots where we enjoyed a variety of food. As we walked through the streets, he pointed out sights of historical significance (such as Templo Apollo), cultural significance (e.g., the former Jewish quarter) and personal significance (e.g., where his family lived decades ago) - and spoke eloquently about each. Giuseppe was also a great resource for restaurants and places to visit throughout Sicily. My only regret is that we didn’t also book a cooking experience with him!

Too much food that really wasn’t necessary or added anything to the tour. Guide less enthusiastic after we declined yet another good stop.

Giuseppe was a wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable guide. Our tour included a colorful visit to the old market and tasting delectable nibbles of traditional Sicilian food at the best spots in Ortigia. Along the way Giuseppe shared his deep knowledge of Ortigia’s architecture and history. It was such a wonderful afternoon!
