Your Itinerary

Doge's Palace

The duration of the Doge's Palace tour in Venice will be about an hour, during which you can admire the Opera Museum, the Lodge Atrium, the famous Golden Staircase, the Institutional Chambers

Admission Included

Piazza San Marco

(Pass by)

St. Mark's Square is Venice on parade, where everyone comes to see and be seen. It is Venice's only square with the title of "piazza" — the rest are called "campo." Life has revolved around this piazza since the days of the Republic, when it was a market, as well as the center of civic and religious life. Considered one of the finest squares in the world and certainly Venice's prime attraction, it is surrounded on three sides by the stately arcades of public buildings and on the fourth, by Basilica di San Marco and Campanile

Basilica di San Marco

(Pass by)

Known as ‘Golden Basilica’ from the predominant colour of the mosaics and numerous valuables kept inside, St Mark’s Basilica combines faith and the pomp of the ancient Republic of Venice. With its five domes, the finely carved front with bas-reliefs, sculptures and mosaics, St Mark’s Church in Venice is a treasure of inestimable value.

Campanile di San Marco

(Pass by)

Giving the broad expanse of Piazza San Marco its vertical dimension is the campanile, the tall brick bell tower for the basilica. It towers above the corner of the arcaded Procuratie Nuove, linking the Piazza and the Piazzetta. The campanile is so tall that it was used by approaching ships as a beacon to guide them home. It was begun in the 10th century and completed in the 12th century, but its pointed roof and gilded pinnacle weren't added until the 15th century. On July 14, 1902, it collapsed into the piazza, but, in 1912, it has been rebuilt 'as it was and where it was'.

Inside was simply stunning and awe inspiring. It took way too long to get inside and the guide lost our interest multiple time by waffling instead of getting us to the stunning buildings

It was very well organized excursion, we almost got a private tour, only 4 people were there for the English group. Sorry I forgot the name of our guide but that lady was super knowledgeable. It was a good tour with enough time to explore this historical palace.

Monica was an excellent guide and provided great context to the history of Venice. Being given the history of the art and building itself truly helps to appreciate the significance and its beauty.

The number of staircases was very difficult for older people.. should be a caution on how hard it may be

Tour started off a little slow. We were given our headsets, the guide did a sound check and then just started walking through San Marco Plaza with no commentary. All we could hear was the crowds in the background of the mic. The guide was not speaking, just walking through the busy area. Once we arrived at the Doge's Palace however, our guide was a wealth of knowledge. Inside we viewed amazing and beautiful art and learned interesting history of the ancient rulers of Venice. Overall a good tour, would probably not do it again though. Seen it once, no need to see it again.

Mirco gave a wonderful overview of Venetian history. Politics, culture and art history with a sense of humour! It was stimulating and enlightening. Thank you Mirco!

Veronese's paintings in the palace were amazing. Tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the palace. Would definitely recommend.

The palace is an amazing building. In a couple of attempts to move our small group ahead of other groups, I wondered if we were missing elaboration that other groups received.

Although our tour started late, once it began, it was fantastic! Our guide was energetic, informative, and engaging! Great tour!
