The city of Melfi is home to important cultural treasures, such as the Cathedral dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta and the Castle of Frederick II, as well as the Melfi National Archaeological Museum. The Cathedral is divided into two floors by a cornice. In the centre, the white stone portal is surmounted by two angels holding up an oval frame and the interior has three naves divided by two "columns of square base from which five arches originate. The Museum, located inside the Federician castle of Melfi, presents the important archaeological documentation found in the area of Vulture-Melfese. Inside it is possible to observe in a distinct way all the finds belonging to the Archaic, Classical and Roman ages.
