We had Jose as our tour guide/driver for four days, from Évora to Lisbon to Obidos, Nazaret, Fátima and ended upon arrival in Porto. Jose is an excellent driver-we felt in very good hands, even in the narrowest of winding streets. Jose is very knowledgable of the history of Portugal, and provided the highest level of information. All the places we visited were so interesting! The little details of wine tasting here, popular dessert there, a fresh bottle of water etc were greatly appreciated.

Almost 90% of the trip just being in the car with long drives and you would barely see much. Pack water with you prior to the trip.

We had a great tour with Jose he was knowledgeable and pleasant on our private tour. Evora provides very interesting sites to see. I found the cork stop unexpected but interesting. The wine tasting was fabulous. Great for couples. Evora itself was a lens to the past where else can you see some of these ruins in tact?? Also the church tour was very interesting. It was an impressive tour.

We had an extraordinary day w Pepe. From start to a very late finish. We visited Evora, a city w great history and relevance, learned all about cork, walked an ancient village, saw a 2000 year old Roman Temple, had a fantastic lunch together w Pepe .. and then a beautiful wine tasting (w/o Pepe!) and then another informative drive back to Lisbon. I could not recommend this group more effusively. Marta, Pepe”s colleague, gets her own five star review for our day w her to Sintra.

We had another fun packed day with the wonderful Marta as our guide. She spoke great English and nothing was too much trouble for her. She picked us up in a nice air conditioned car from our Lisbon hotel and we first went to a cork factory and learnt all about collecting and the use of cork. Next stop was Ervideira winery for a tour, tasting and cheeses. This was fantastic. Next stop was Evora where we had a walking tour around the town. There was lots to see and learn. We had such a great day thanks to Marta!

We had a great day in and around Evora with our wonderful guide, Marta! We went to the corn factory which was really neat to see and very interesting. Who knew there were so many uses for cork other than wine stoppers?! We absolutely loved the wine tasting at Ervideira and that it was a small family owned winery. Then we went to Evora and went to the Chapel of Bones. Not gonna lie, it’s a little morbid but totally worth it and it only takes a few minutes but it’s really interesting. Highly recommend this tour package with Portugal Travel and our tour guide Marta!!

We learned a lot about the different wines and the elaboration of the cork. We enjoyed the teachings of Marta, our tour guide, and the local guides. We liked Evora, although the chapel is a bit surprising. Special thanks to marta who was a great company and guide during our time here.

Rita drove us to Evora for wine tour, tour of ruins in the city and tour of cork factory. Rita was a great driver, friendly, knowledgeable and speaks very good English so very easy to converse. We arranged tour with Rita because she did an excellent tour with us a few days earlier.

Another excellent tour offered by this company, and our driver Goncalo. We drove to Evora, and along the way we stopped at a megalithic site -- older than Stonehenge, and very impressive! Goncalo offered history at the perfect level -- my husband likes to go into more detail, and Goncalo was able to go deeper, and even looked up some information he was unsure of. We also loved seeing the cork trees and nesting storks along the way. Evora was an interesting city, full of history and beauty. Do not miss the Chapel of the Bones -- words do not describe this place! Thanks to Goncalo for a perfect day touring a less 'touristy' city, we enjoyed ourselves immensely!

My daughter and I booked this tour with Portugal Unknown using Goncalo as our guide for the day. I had contacted them earlier about the possibility of an additional stop and they just didn't see anyway that it could be squeezed in. BUT, as our day concluded, they surprised us by adding the stop we wanted! We had so much fun that we made arrangements to use Portugal Unknown for half-day tours the next 2 days. Our guide the next 2 days was Bruno. Both of our guides grew up in the area and obviously love Sintra and being tour guides. Bruno worked hard to squeeze in full day activities into the half-day time frames we had! One of our days was Jan 1 (New Year's Day) and most everything would be closed. They still managed to give us an incredible time in the Sintra/Lisbon area! The time we had on our own, they had great suggestions as to what we should do to make the best use of our time. They kept us so busy our last day, that they took us straight to the airport when we had to leave. Highly Recommend Portugal Unknown - especially to truly see things beyond the ordinary and to get to experience the culture and people of Portugal.
