What to expect
Torres de Serranos
Start your tour at the Torres de Serranos, the ancient gate which is one of those twelve gates which formed the Christian wall of Valencia. Here, you will notice that architecture which has been inspired by the Gothic gates of that era.
Valencia Cathedral
Next, you will visit the Valencia Cathedral, The famous Saint Mary’s Cathedral. Here, you will see several 15-th century paintings by Roman artists. There is a mix of architecture you will find here ranging from the early Romanesque, Valencian Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical.
Palace of the Marqués de Dos Aguas
Walk by the Palace of the Marqués de Dos Aguas, a nobility palace with rich Gothic exterior facades and interiors from the 15th century. It is regarded as a paragon of nobility and opulence.
Mercat Central de Valencia
As we continue, you will visit the Central Market of Valencia, a central public market consisting of one of the main works of Valencian Art Nouveau. Here, you will be at one of the largest markets in Europe with architectural influences of Valencian Gothic style and Gothic- baroque.
La Lonja de la Seda de Valencia
Next, you will visit a Valencian Gothic style civic building known as the La Lonja de la Seda de Valencia. Built in the 15th century, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This site dramatically illustrates the power and wealth of one of the great Mediterranean mercantile cities.
San Nicolás de Bari y San Pedro Mártir
Finally, you will visit a Gothic church dating back to the 13th century known as Sant Nicolau de Bari i Sant Pere Màrtir. This church has a famous rose window alluding to a miracle of Saint Nicholas. It also consists of an outdoor Chapel known as the Fossar which is a neo-gothic 19th-century recreation.
