The Guide Rui was excellent and very knowledgable. The cost was too high for the experience but he did a wonderful job. We visited 2 wineries (tastings were included) and had lunch at one of the wineries that was a bit large and crowded (lunch was not included) . Would have like to have had some flexibility in the day to see some other smaller wineries and would have appreciated a possible inclusion of the boat tour. Rui did a great job in including some stops for us to see the view of the beautiful Douro valley.

I can not recommend this tour enough. It's a family owned company (I corresponded with Sara when booking, but her son João led the tour), and João was a fantastic driver and tour guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and did a great job answering all our questions and giving us insight into life in the Douro valley, but he also wasn't one of those tour guides who feels the need to fill any lull in the conversation with chatter. =) My family and I really enjoyed his expertise and company, and had a blast at the wineries he took us to for some delicious wine, olives, almonds, jams and a FANTASTIC lunch (not included in the price). One of the best tours I've ever been on.

Absolute highlight of our Portugal trip. João was fantastic. He was waiting for us at our hotel, had a spotless comfortable vehicle, took us to the most special vineyards and towns, brought us to the best meal, and was a wealth of knowledge about Portugal, port, and wine. He really cared for our comfort on a hot day, too. When someone loves their country as much as he does, it is infectious. Worth every penny. If I return to Porto I’ll reach out to this company to ask them to take me on another tour.

We had an AWESOME day with Joao as our host. He made the day both fun and interesting while treating us like old friends! We saw so many things and learned so much that to list everything would take too long and would ruin the surprise of others who will take the tour. Trust me, go and discover for yourself the experience we had! Thank you for the memories we made as a family on what was the trip of a lifetime for our parents. Muito Obrigado! 💯🇵🇹🏆

It was a great day! Our guide, Carlos, is quite knowledgeable about Portugal history and the Douro Valley. He took us to interesting and nice spots, marvelous views, 3 wineries for wine tasting - all tastings were very private and able to include wines of our interest. Lunch was also very tasty. Thanks Carlos, “amigo”.

What an incredible day! Rui was knowledgeable, so sweet and kind and fun to be with. He educated us about the area and showed us so many special places. The wine tours were spectacular! Both the small winery and the medium size one had outstanding wines to taste. The first winery was amazing. We spent time learning about the wine making process and even got to climb into an empty barrel! The second winery was so beautiful with a delicious lunch set in a wonderful atmosphere. We even got to witness a stunning wedding taking place at the winery. I cannot say enough about this tour. It is worth every penny. Rui was an incredible guide - and ended our day with fresh picked cherries he bought for us from a stand! Do not hesitate to book this tour!

My husband and I recently booked two private tours and we were thoroughly impressed by both the one of a kind experience, and the impeccable service. Our guides, Sara and John, showcased a variety of things that only a local experts would know. Most importantly they helped us enjoy Portuguese wines, food and culture through a genuine local point of view. The attentive guides had a vast repertoire of gems and tips to share, and balanced that with a great deal of customization and flexibility to suit us. I say with confidence that this company will ensure that your days in Porto are the most memorable ones! I can’t recommend O Porto and Douro Moments (aptly named!) enough for a fantastic experience in this region.

Great day spent with our tour guide. Learned so much about the wine industry in the Douro valley….Porto. What made it special was the” offf the beaten track” villages and vineyards that we stopped at! Highly recommend this tour .

This tour was well worth every penny and minute spent. We highly recommend booking a tour with this family-owned tour company and asking for Joao. Our guide , Joao, speaks perfect English and is very knowledgeable about wines, vineyards, Portugal topography, Portugal history and, of course, culture. He paced the day well and, since our tour was focused on wine country, he explained the different regions, grapes, olives, co-planting, and answered all our random questions - even those not about Douro and the wine country. We were picked up at our hotel in Porto and learned much during our 90 minute drive to our first stop - a family-owned and run winery in the Douro region. We spent some time tasting various wines paired with 2 different olive oils (and bread), 2 different olive pastes, 3 different homemade jams and home made portugués bread. Following this visit, chatting with the owner and taking pics, we strolled through a small quaint town where we enjoyed an espresso before driving down the windy roads into the valley and along the banks of the Douro river (also stopping for pics of the incredible views). We enjoyed a romantic lunch overlooking a vineyard, which was followed by a tour of the wine cellar and wine (and port) tasting. The drive was absolutely beautiful as was the day. Your visit to Porto would not be complete without a visit to this region and We highly recommend visiting the Douro region with Joao and Joao’s family owned tour company.

What a great day seeing the "off the beaten path" parts of the Duoro Valley. We loved that this group focuses on highlighting the smaller, Portugese-owned wineries instead of the bigger, British conglomerates that I have largely taken over the Valley. João (John for us Americans) arrived at our hotel early and was waiting for us when we got to the lobby, eager to begin our full-day private tour. While there were only two of us, we enjoyed the luxury of a Mercedes van, which was a very comfortable ride for all day touring. As we drove the ~90 minutes to the Valley from Porto, João answered all of our questions about Portugese culture and life. As we got into the Valley, our real education began as we heard all about the unique wine culture of Portugal. Our tour involved tours and tastings at two distinctly different vineyards; a coffee stop; a stop at a scenic viewpoint; and lunch. Everything was arranged for us throughout the 9-hour tour and João was a very knowledgeable host who graciously shared his deep knowledge all day long. I highly recommend supporting this company - it's a small, family-owned and operated group that goes the extra mile... including customizing tours to cater to your interests. Top notch!
