Catedral do Porto

A Sé Catedral, um dos monumentos mais antigos da cidade, remonta ao século XII, quando o Porto era um dos principais baluartes da Reconquista e da reorganização do território português. Apresenta características de Arte Românica de influência francesa e foi construído por mestres da região de Coimbra. A fachada ostenta um corpo central enquadrado por duas torres, sendo o acesso exterior ao portal feito por escada simétrica cujos vãos da rampa são preenchidos por elementos decorativos; as formas destas esculturas românicas parecem ter inspiração no imaginário céltico da Europa. A rosácea gótica foi aberta no século XIV e o primitivo portal, assim como o remate das torres foram remodelados em 1722 e decorados com as composições barrocas que hoje apresentam. Na ilharga norte, abre-se uma monumental galilé, também barroca, mandada construir em 1776 com base nos planos do arquiteto Nasoni.

Torre dos Clerigos

No ano de 1753, a pedido da Irmandade dos Clérigos, o arquiteto italiano Nicolau Nasoni apresentou o projeto para uma torre sineira, e em 1754 arrancariam as obras daquela que viria a ser a mais bela e altaneira Torre, dominando toda a paisagem urbana do Porto. Em julho de 1763, com a colocação da cruz de ferro no topo, e a imagem de São Paulo no nicho sobre a porta, deu-se por finalizada a sua construção. As características barrocas que a definem são a expressão máxima da espetacularidade do barroco, onde os motivos típicos deste estilo, dão à torre movimento e beleza. A mais de 75m de altura, depois de subir 225 degraus e chegar ao topo da torre, a vista sobre a cidade deslumbra. Numa perspetiva a 360°, o visitante usufrui de um momento único, quer de dia ou de noite, quando em épocas especiais, a torre abre as suas portas até às 23h00. A Torre dos Clérigos, é incontestavelmente o ex-líbris da cidade, e um excelente miradouro sobre esta.

Luis I Bridge

A ponte D. Luis I é a principal ligação entre o Porto e a cidade vizinha de Vila Nova de Gaia. Feita em metal, a ponte mede cerca de 395 metros de comprimento e 8 de largura e divide-se em dois tabuleiros que ligam ambas as partes alta e baixa da cidade. O responsável pela sua construção é Théophile Seyrig, que a contruiu sob ordens do rei Luis I, que lhe dá nome. Seyrig já tinha trabalhado com Gustave Eiffel na ponte D. Maria Pia, e seguiu o estilo arquitectónico do seu mestre. Terminada em 1888, a ponte D. Luis ainda é, hoje em dia, um dos pontos mais emblemáticos da cidade do Porto.

Livraria Lello

A Livraria Lello foi inaugurada no número 144 da rua das carmelitas, o que levou a um grande impacto no meio cultural da época. Grande figuras estiveram presentes na inauguração como Guerra Junqueiro, Abel Botelho, João Grave, Afonso Costa, entre outros. O edifício da livraria, que ainda hoje surpreende, foi concebido pelo engenheiro Xavier Esteves. O objectivo dos irmãos era criar um verdadeiro templo das artes. A Livraria Lello foi considerada a terceira mais bela do mundo em 2008 pelo The Guardian. O guia de viagens Lonely Planet colocou-a no top 3 das livrarias mais belas, e a CNN considerou-a, em 2014, a mais bonita do mundo. JK Rowling, a criadora de Harry Potter morou durante alguns anos no Porto no ínicio da década de 1990.
