What to expect
Placa Reial
Meet your guide on the Plaça Reial, at the fountain, in the middle of the square. Get ready for a 4-hour E-bike tour through Barcelona and her main points of interests. Hop on an e-bike to experience the many miles of bike lanes that wind easily and safely throughout Barcelona. Set among the sea and the mountains, the city is home to several hills and many streets have a gentle slope. The e-bikes are ideal to explore the city in an alternative way while reaching places that cars or busses can't access.
Gothic Quarter (Barri Gotic)
You will start the tour in the Gothic Quarter, which is the oldest part of the city, dating back to 2000 years. The district has many streets, so small, that most of them are closed to traffic. In Ciutat Vella, where the history of Barcelona first started, you will experience a harmonious mix of modernity with Roman and medieval imprints. You will learn about the Catalan traditions and Barcelona’s origins, while exploring the enchanting corners, picturesque squares and the narrow alleys of the Gothic quarter.
L'Eixample District
After checking out the neighborhood’s most important highlights, we will set our focus on Modernism, crossing the Eixample district and marveling at its iconic Modernist architecture. L'Eixample was designed by Ildefons Cerdà after 1895 , to expand the city. (The word “Eixample” actually means “expansion” in Catalan). Crossing the streets of this elegant neighborhood, you will remark that Cerdà’s concept of urban planning was revolutionary and utopian. This was Barcelona´s 19th-century answer to the overcrowding of the medieval city and Gaudi´s favorite neighborhood to work in. In Eixample, you will pass by some of his most spectacular works, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Casa Batlló and Casa Milà.
Passeig de Gracia
The avenue is home to the most remarkable façades of modernist buildings, including Gaudi’s La Pedrera, Casa Batlló and Domènech's Casa Lleó - Morera or Casa Ametller. While passing by, get amazed by these beautiful houses, that will color in your day. Also, it is a ideal avenue ride the bike, with its large bike lanes.
Casa Lleo i Morera
We will pass by Casa Lleó - Morera or Casa Ametller, built by the modernist architect Lluís Domènech
Casa Batllo
Get ready to be amazed by the colorful façade of Casa Battló, one of Gaudi's impressive houses.
Basilica de la Sagrada Familia
You will ofcourse pass in front of the Sagrada Familia, and be able to admire this divine piece of art. We will make a stop so you can take the time to make pictures of the amazing façade of Gaudí's masterpiece.
Barri de Gracia
In this tour, you will also discover the neighborhood of Gràcia. One thing that will catch your attention while visiting Gràcia is the feeling of being somewhere else, like in a small town. You will feel a very friendly and familiar athmosphere. You will get enchanted by the various 'plazas' of the neighborhood, where everyone likes to sit on the banches or on the floor, singing or playing the guitar. Gràcia is one of the most bohemian and multicultural neighborhoods in Barcelona. Large stores here do not have a place, since local commerce is more popular. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, theaters, cinemas, cultural centers and little boutiques. This all with a very creative spirit. You will love it.
El Raval
After riding through Gràcia, we will head to El Raval, going down Las Ramblas. When you will enter the Raval, the former red light district of the city, your private guide will explain its colorful history and point out some of its most emblematic landmarks. For centuries now, this part of Barcelona has been home to many nightclubs, cabarets and taverns. Raval is known as the place where sailors would often go to have fun after reaching the local port. Today, the neigborhood, is a youthful and sparkling place full of life and movement. Home to skaters and youngsters, boutiques, bars and restaurants.
Playa de La Barceloneta
Later on, we will reach Barcelona's waterfront and end on the Barceloneta beach, where the historical district meets the Mediterranean Sea. This was once a fisherman’s neighborhood and still preserves that small-town essence today. Here, you will find lovely chiringuitos (beach bars), authentic Spanish seafood restaurants and colorful buildings with a great local feel. you will have the chance to marvel at amazing views over the Mediterranean. Take a moment to enjoy the fresh breeze as you peddle along the beautiful seafront promenade.
