Built in the 9th century, still under Islamic occupation, its role throughout history has always been land and maritime defense of the region. In the bay, you will find the Maritime Museum of Sesimbra where you will know the connection of this Portuguese village to the sea and fishing art, from the history of the local fishermen, how they traveled and the utensils they used, to maritime devotions, there are several rooms to explore. The ex-libris of this museum is a 3D movie that takes you on a journey back to the time of prehistory and medieval times, ending in a return to the ocean and the future of Sesimbra.

Time to explore the interior of the Castle, with an excellent view of Sesimbra, as well as a visit to the Castle's interpretation center. The Sesimbra Castle another of the Morrish remains in Portugal, the ancient fortress in Sesimbra and the whole district, built at the highest point, to ensure a good protection and a privileged view. Eduardo was absolutely phenomenal! Not only was it so wonderful to hear all of the history and details of the places we visited; but Eduardo is so very proud of his culture and history and shared such a passion for everything he shared with us. He was 5 minutes early for our pickup, had chilled bottled waters ready for us and was eager to start the day and give us exactly what we were looking for. We would HIGHLY recommend him again and again! Truly well worth the cost of the tour and then some!

This was an all day private tour for 3 peeps of Sesimbra, Azeitao, and Setubal w wine tour. Unfortunately we had very unexpected fog set in on the coast that made all of the stops on the beaches and views of the coastline a bust. However, out guide, Manuel, was very knowledgeable of the area, and flexible with the schedule. So we ended up seeing more of the interior locations and had a very fun day on the peninsula despite the fog…

This was one of three day tours we did with this company. Our guide, Bruno was great and we appreciated that he added extra stops based on our interests. This tour avoids the large tourist crowds, which was a nice change of pace. Bruno was a pleasure to spend the day with and the tour has a nice balance of time on our own and guided experiences at attractions.

Não me arrependi! A partir dela caminhei pelas ruelas .
