Giardino di Boboli
Your Boboli Garden adventure begins at the Pitti Palace courtyard. After admiring the large octagonal basin decorated with statues and crowned by a bronze lily, nick named “artichoke” fountain , head to the Amphitheatre, the first phase of this beautiful garden. As you climb the hill, you'll find Neptune's Fountain and at the very top, the large statue of Abundance, by Giambologna. Descend the hill via a steep sloping avenue and onto a large avenue known as the Viottolone. Lined with cypresses and statuettes, it leads all the way down to the Isolotto, a large pond with an admirable fountain known as The Ocean, created by Giambologna. The final stops are at the Giardino del Cavaliere, built by Michelangelo, the Kaffeehaus, and the Buontalenti Grotto, a marvel created by Buontalenti from limestone concrete stalactites, shells and terracotta reliefs, with water features providing vivacity and color. This hour-long tour allows you to see the highlights of the Boboli Garden.
