Your Itinerary

Piazza della Repubblica

(Pass by)

Riding on a Vespa is the quintessential Roman experience. Imagine you are in your very own version of Roman Holiday, as you explore the hidden streets and outside corners of the Eternal City. Hop on board your classic & stylish motorbike and experience Rome as the Romans do! Your Vespa Rome Small Group Tour begins in the heart of Rome, at the beautiful Piazza della Repubblica, where you will strap your helmet on and follow your LivItaly tour guide on an unforgettable journey. Here in this iconica piazza admire Santa Maria ai Martiri, one of Rome's largest Basilicas, build by none other than Michelangelo on the ruins of the ancient thermal baths of Emperor Diocletian!

Circus Maximus

(Pass by)

Circle around the Colosseum, and zoom by the impressive Arch of Triumph of Constantine. Ride down the beautiful Via di San Gregorio, where you will have the Palatine Hill to your right and the Celio hill to your left, and even see an impressive above ground ancient Roman aqueduct. This will lead you up to the top of Circus Maximus, the largest stadium ever built by the Romans. Hear the stories of Rome's very early beginnings, and enjoy an incredible view of the Imperial Villas on the Palatine Hill overlooking the Circus Maximus.

Aventine

(Pass by)

Now that you heard the story of how Rome came to be, hop back on your ride and drive up the beautiful Aventine Hill. One of the proverbial 7 hills of Rome, this hill is truly a sight for sore eyes, with an incredible view of Rome's city center. And it holds a very special surprise, but that is best left for the tour itself... ;)

Piramide Cestia

(Pass by)

Once down from the Aventine, zoom down Viale Aventino and you will see something you certainly didn't expect: a Pyramid! in Rome, you might ask?? Well, yes indeed! Rome truly has it all! Learn about the history of the Piramide Cestia and awe at the incredile Aurelian Walls. In fact from here you will have a wonderful view of one of Rome's most important entry doors, Porta Ostiense, where you can really get a sense of what the fortifications surrounding the city must have looked like.

Bocca della Verita

(Pass by)

Continue through Testaccio, a neighborhood known for being the birthplace for some of Rome's most quintessential recipes, and ride on to the infamous Mouth of Truth. The story behind this Roman legend says that whomever places their hand in its Mouth, and says a lie, will have their hand bitten off. Good thing you will only be zooming by on your Vespa!

Piazza del Campidoglio

(Pass by)

Phew! still got both hands? Good! Continue your ride up Via del Teatro Marcello and arrive at the base of the Capitol Hill, the Campidoglio, centre of Ancient Rome and still today the seat of the Mayor. This hill is where it all began. Learn about the tales of this hill, the temples that once decorated it, and how it came to be the beautiful Renaissance piazza that it is today, complete with an impressive staircase by none other than Michelangelo.

Piazza Venezia

(Pass by)

Circle around the incredible piazza Venezia, where you will see the monumental Altar to the Country, otherwise known as Vittoriano, learn the history behind this enormous monument, and why the romans came up with its many nicknames

Area Sacra di Largo Argentina

(Pass by)

Once you've circled around Piazza Venezia, it is time to dive into the tiny streets of Rome's center. Dive back into Ancient Rome and ride to Largo Argentina. Here you will see the very site where Julius Caesar lost his life at the hands of conspiring senators.

Spanish Steps

(Pass by)

Continue through the tiny winding streets (good thing your guide knows where to go!), and see the beautiful Piazza di Spagna. Indeed, this tour would not be complete without a visit to the Spanish Steps, Rome's most famous and impressive staircase.

Trevi Fountain

(Pass by)

Zip some more through the quaint Rione Trevi, and you will be at the one and only Trevi Fountain, the world's most famous fountain. Learn the stories behind its conception and construction, and of course, throw a coin! Don't know why? No worries! Your guide will tell you all about this fun superstitious tradition.

Pantheon

(Pass by)

Your tour would not be complete without a stop to admire the world's most well preserved Ancient Roman temple: the Pantheon. This incredible monument, still fully standing, and in use as a Church since the 6th century, is a favorite of tourists and locals alike. A wonderfully preserved testimony to the beauty, splendor and grandeur of Roman Architecture.

This was my 5th tour in Rome, with LivTours. Andy was a great chatter, imparting the theory and knowledge, but also providing an insight to living in Rome. As our group has visited many times before, Andy was happy to take us on an alternative route, some of the lesser visited or almost forgotten parts of the city. Including St Stephens church, some of the lesser known city gates like Arch of Gallienus and Monte Testaccio. Andy clearly had a breadth of knowledge, but particularly we liked the aqueduct information, history and his linking the entire off-the-beaten-path with these water ways. Andys ability to craft a bespoke tour of interest to frequent visitors of Rome is a great talent, and we hope he enjoyed the freedom as much as we enjoyed seeing new parts of this great city.

Mike was an excellent guide and a safe tour guide in the Roman traffic. I have some experience with driving Vespa and felt safe all the time. Mike was very knowledgeable and could give us the history in a good way.

This was one of our favorite experiences in Rome ! Perfect for parents with young adult (20’s) children. Frenetic , like Rome, and exciting. Dario, our guide knew we had been to many major attractions so instead we saw many very cool lesser visited sights. Would do it again!
