What to expect
Ponta da Piedade
The cliffs of the Ponta da Piedade headland is one of the finest natural features of the Algarve. This dramatic limestone coastline is formed of sea pillars, fragile rock arches and hidden grottos, all of which have been chiselled-out by savage winter storms. The Ponta da Piedade is a bleak and windswept headland, and the beauty of the region is only discovered on descending the cliffs, where the exposed cliffs reveal their golden colour, and the turquoise sea waters lap precariously balanced rock formations. The headland can only be described as stunning. For your visit to the Ponta da Piedade, there are two methods to explore the headland; either from the landside via coastline footpaths, or from the sea, as part of a boat tour. These boat tours employ former fishing boats
Praia da Rocha
Praia da Rocha is a beach in the municipality of Portimão, in the Algarve. This beach has a large stretch of sand, in a total area of around 146,000 m², along 1.5 km of coastline. Next to the beach stands the Fortress of Santa Catarina, built in the 17th century to defend the mouth of the river Arade. The beach owes its name to the rocks that are found between the sand and the sea. It is one of the most famous in the Algarve, if not the whole country. Every year, during the summer, the beach is full of tourists from all over the world and, despite its great extension, it is rare not to be crowded. In recent years it has hosted the Mundialito de Futebol de Praia, which is played in a stadium built for this purpose and which has a capacity for 3000 people.
Marina De Portimao
LAST SAFE HARBOR ON THE WAY TO THE MEDITERRANEAN Surrounded by some of the most famous and beautiful beaches in Europe, Marina de Portimão has assumed a position as a Portuguese leader, as the preferred destination for mega-yachts up to 50m. Located on the safest bar in the country, on the wide estuary of the River Arade, it extends over an area of around 25 ha, framed by the forts of Santa Catarina and S. João and magnificent support facilities. The Marina has deep waters that allow you to enter and leave it, at any tide, wide entrance and developed maneuvering areas, sheltered from the prevailing winds. Inserted in a luxury condominium with Exclusive Beach, Hotel, Restaurants, Shops, Bars and magnificent Oceanic Pool, facing the sea.
Carvoeiro
With an ancient history, this picturesque fishing village has grown in recent years as the nerve center of tourism In fact, since time immemorial, Carvoeiro has been the target of various civilizational attentions. In this magnificent stretch of the Algarve coast, where Nature wrought prodigies, the sea was the last resting place for Romans, victims of naval battles and storms, whose remains (a Roman block and an anchor) prove their presence. According to historical sources, the current toponym of the village would have derived from the word , an old fishermen's village of Arab-medieval origin, which resisted the signs of time, managed to succeed. As with other parishes in the municipality, Carvoeiro also accompanied the expansion of the canning industry, responsible for generating various jobs and wealth, while it worked in full force. However, from the 1960s onwards, the excellent natural conditions allowed the tourist boom.
Algar Seco
In the Algarve, in Carvoeiro, you will find the natural monument Algar Seco. This true wonder of nature consists of a series of rocks and rough caves, carved over hundreds of years by the wind, and natural pools with incredibly blue water. Holes in the rocks give them the appearance of windows and balconies.
Praia da Marinha
Praia da Marinha is one of the most beautiful and emblematic beaches in Portugal, also considered as one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Europe and one of the 100 most beautiful beaches in the World by the Michelin Guide, [Having even been distinguished with the "Praia Dourada" award by the Ministry of the Environment, in 1998, due to its unique natural values.
