L’Etna è un posto unico e affascinante e talmente vasto che ci si potrebbe perdere. Bravissimo Peppe la nostra guida che ha saputo adeguare il passo quando c’era qualcuno in difficoltà. Eccezionale poi con i ragazzi, specialmente i miei figli che soffrono un po’ di vertigini, se li è portati a braccetto nei punti più critici. Paesaggi mozzafiato specialmente dopo che vengono raccontati da chi li vive tutti i giorni. Non è una passeggiata semplice ma, grazie anche alla competenza della guida, sono riuscita a concludere anche io che non sono allenata alla montagna e ho il fiato corto.

Il paesaggio strepitoso è già una garanzia di stupore per chi non lo conosce, ma l'escursione diventa ancora più coinvolgente, grazie alla passione di Fabrizio, la guida che ha saputo coinvolgere nostro figlio di nove anni con pazienza e gentilezza, facendoci vivere una giornata indimenticabile. In base alla stagione è bene prepararsi un abbigliamento adeguato. In agosto, quando ci siamo stati noi, la giornata era decisamente torrida e afosa al livello del mare ma giunti in vetta, il vento soffiava e l’arietta era fresca. Per cui vestirsi a strati, in base al proprio grado di tolleranza rispetto al freddo percepito. Io (che sono medio ahahah) come abbigliamento da mettere nel mio zaino ho previsto: - 2 magliette manica corta (una di ricambio) - 1 giacca tecnica a manica lunga - 1 gilet smanicato come terzo strato - 1 short con elemento lungo da aggiungere con la zip - Calzettoni e scarponi da montagna - Borraccia e panini, dolcetti ecc... - Cappellino La natura del terreno è polveroso ed ovviamente, ricco di detriti vulcanici (anche spigolosi). Per cui gli scarponi e le calze lunghe (con i pantaloni lunghi) sono molto comodi soprattutto per la discesa, quando affossi le falcate nel terreno, un po’ come fosse neve. Per cui si sprofonda per la maggior parte del percorso, non ovunque e dipende... dalla destinazione finale ovviamente. Va da se che con scarpette basse e shorts (c'erano i temerari), ci si riempie le scarpe di laqualunque… ma de gustibus. Nulla di tragico comunque. La salita non è eccessivamente impegnativa, diciamo che con calma ce la fa chiunque. I bambini che c’erano tra i vari gruppi lo potrebbero confermare. Ci sono diversi obiettivi da raggiungere, tra le escursioni proposte ma se scegli quella “ultima” beh, gli oltre 2900 mt di quota si fanno un po’ sentire… se non sei molto allenato. Ma che dire, un piccolo sforzo per avere la massima resa dal panorama e dalle incredibili storie che le guide sanno raccontarti lungo tutta l'esperienza. Molto preparate... da ogni punto di vista. E molto divertente, perché farsi trasportate dai miti e leggende e soprattutto, dalla cultura locale raccontata in modo così “intimo e curioso”, rende tutto ancora più affascinante. E quando torni giù... e la discesa è la parte davvero più divertente (quanto meno la sommità - se hai voglia di saltellare come stambecchi), il caldo torna a farsi sentire… e tutto torna come prima… salvo la strada che ti porta ancora al mare… che lascia vivo il ricordo di questa esperienza, lungo le scie nere che il vento trasporta ovunque per chilometri... fino a scomparire, man mano che ti allontani. Da provare assolutamente e direi, riprovare, visto che in una sola escursione non si riesce a vedere tutto il mondo che ti si presenta agli occhi... e al cuore.

Il luogo è indubbiamente bellissimo e le guide molto preparate. L’organizzazione lascia un po’ a desiderare, forse perché ci siamo stato in alta stagione e c’era molta affluenza. Le persone assegnate ad ogni guida erano molte, partenza con grande ritardo, itinerario non ben specificato. I punti visitati potevano essere raggiunti anche senza guida. Si potrebbe migliorare molto il servizio offerto.

Guide alpine preparatissime ed appassionate del proprio lavoro. Ascensione svolta con tre adolescenti, le guide sono state bravissime a coinvolgere le ragazze e garantire un passo adeguato alle loro possibilità. Bravissimi !!!
