Your Itinerary

Miradouro Pico Dos Barcelos

The Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint is located in Funchal, at an altitude of 355 meters, and from there it is possible to have a panoramic view over the city. there are 360°views over Funchal and the surrounding area. This is also where the locals meet on New Year's Eve to watch the fireworks. There is a café, a restaurant and some stalls where you can buy souvenirs and crafts.

Pico do Arieiro

Pico do Areeiro, the third-highest point on the island of Madeira, is located at an altitude of 1,818 metres. From this elevated spot, the ample view allows observers to extend their gaze over the unique grandeurs of Madeira's Mountainous Massif, with the Atlantic Ocean in the background.

Valley of the Nuns

Curral das Freiras ('Nuns Valley') is a small parish nestling between almost perpendicular mountains in the heart of the island. Both Eira do Serrado and Paredão viewpoints are excellent locations to contemplate the magnificent views of this parish.

Cabo Girao

Further along the road from Funchal through Câmara de Lobos and up into the mountains you will arrive at Cabo Girão, often considered the highest sea cliff in Europe. Standing on the glass skywalk of the viewpoint is quite a breathtaking adventure. The view is incredible and certainly more enjoyable (for those who are afraid of heights) once you retreat from the cliff's edge.

Faja dos Padres

Fajã dos Padres has the shape of a small piece of land, at the bottom of a cliff approximately 250 meters high, located in the southern coast of Madeira. The cliff represents an enormous barrier to the north, thus Fajã opens itself wide toward the south, allowing an easy access to the sea through a narrow rocky beach, which forms a small bay at the centre.

Ribeira Brava

The municipality of Ribeira Brava benefits from the privileged climate felt on the west coast of the island almost all year round. From the highest areas, in the mountains, to the places along the coastline, this municipality offers visitors a wide variety of points of interest to visit and landscapes to contemplate.

Sao Vicente

São Vicente is a village located in the mouth of Ribeira Grande, almost hidden in the hole of a cliff, in the island of Madeira, Portugal. Its houses are set up surrounding the church and its environment is very initing with good cafés, hotels and numerous shops.

Seixal

This is precisely the stunning scenery of one of the most popular beaches in this parish, Porto do Seixal Beach, a natural black sand beach located right next to Seixal harbour. With a breathtaking landscape — the green cliffs and mountains of the island's north coast — this unsupervised beach offers its visitors access to the toilet facilities, showers and the bar of Clube Naval do Seixal Pools, right next to it, which is a free access facility with a natural pool and sun loungers.

Porto Moniz

The main highlight of this place is for sure the natural swimming pools, that in 2018, CNN elected it as one of the 52 best beaches in the world. This swimming pool was formed over thousands of years, through the cooling of volcanic lava, and it has crystal clear water, with fish easily visible. The landscape surrounding the pools are unique due to a panoramic view that the swimmer has over the sea coast and the rocks. The seawater lava pools are naturally filled by the ocean’s high tide, and you can still paddling in.

Ponta do Pargo Lighthouse

Situated on the westernmost tip of the island of Madeira, the Ponta do Pargo Lighthouse Viewpoint offers a panoramic view over the Atlantic and the rock formations that mark all its surroundings. It is a unique place that deserves a careful visit. This viewpoint is located at Ponta da Vigia, the westernmost cape of the island. It stands on top of a cliff at an altitude of 290 metres, allowing a view to the surrounding coastal area, marked by imposing cliffs and points of interest such as Achadas da Cruz, which belongs to the municipality of Porto Moniz.
