I cannot explain how wonderful this experience was. From the time we boarded, Gina, our host was exceptional. She pampered us in every way from getting drinks, serving our dinner course by course, taking pictures, and entertaining us. Our tour from captain Mitchell could not have been better. He was so intuitive and answered all of our many questions. You can tell his 48 years on the steamboat had grown an unbreakable bond. The band and all of the staff were outstanding as well. Our VIP experience was worth every penny. Of our 5 days in NOLA this was one of our favorites.
Best trip we booked in New Orleans. We had the Natchez dinner VIP package...Highlights were the early boarding, excellent band, our VIP host Ellie, the gift bag and hands down the captains tour!
Gina was fabulous and such an amazing experience!! Can’t wait to go again in the future! VIP is absolutely worth it!
We made the unfortunate mistake of paying extra for the VIP experience. The host was communicative and we were expected to be early to the boat. However when we arrived we realized that we were not on the Natchez but rather the New Orleans. Before boarding we had our picture taken as we waited for the rest of the VIP party to arrive. When we boarded we were given drink wristbands and our host told us that she would be happy to get us whatever we would like all night. While we never waited in line for a drink and didn't have to pay anything additional, we had to ask several time to get what we wanted and service wasn't very quick. We had a reserved table on the top deck for the first set of Jazz, which was nice as seating on the deck filled quickly. The jazz was very good. We moved down to dinner as the boat left the dock. We had a nice private table on the side of the dinning deck next to a window. The food was ok, nothing special. We were then hurried to a tour of the boat by a former captain missing dessert in the process. The tour was a waste of time as the Captain was hard to hear and while the history he had knowledge of was fascinating, it was for the Natchez and not the New Orleans. To end the night we were brought to the middle deck and the host preceded to by time while the boat off loaded the non VIP patrons. We were given a gift of two Champaign glasses and the picture we had taken earlier. Once we departed we realized that the picture we were given was of some other party and not of us. We felt that there were several opportunities to make the night spectacular however at the end, given that we had a hard time getting drinks, missed desert, attended a tour that had little to do with the boat we were on, and we were give the wrong photo we felt that the additional money we paid to have the VIP experience wasn't worth it.
The boat ride was great, and so was the band, the drinks, and the food. We had the VIP package and ended up getting escorted around the boat by the captain, got a grand tour, and a front-row seat for the jazz performance. Highly recommend!
Would highly recommend this trip. We had a lovely night. Food was good and as we had the VIP package our drinks were included. We met the captain who was very nice and gif a lovely bag of goodies.
