Fantastic experience! Jose who was our guide was super in his job. Lots of knowledge about portwine, and allways ready to answer our questions. Also a really cool guy that gives of himself. Can only recommend this to people visiting Porto/Gaia, even those who doen't drink portwine because the experience is worth it.

We did the very first of these tours with a friend and it was a great experience, altogether interesting, tasty, fun and generous. David took us through the history of port wines and the city of Porto and Portugal but also outlined the outstanding variety of dry wines in the Douro Valley. The tastings were excellent and we learnt a lot whilst having an overall great time.

We had a group of seven and Catia was our guide: Catia was early and very easy to find, the company's communication was excellent. We started the tour outside the market and it was obvious she was very knowledgeable. Her speaking style is engaging and she is extremely funny. It's clear Catia takes great pride in her country, city, and culture, all that and she brings along delicious wine and snacks. What's not to like? While we were enjoying our food, we were asking Catia questions about her experiences growing up in Porto and how she lives now. She was open, refreshing and informative. She even got a little emotional when speaking about her grandmother, it was endearing and not at all contrived. She cares about your experience and will do everything she can to make it ideal. I don't want to go into too much detail on the food tasting and ruin any surprises. I will say that they were plentiful, delicious and she used a technique I hadn't seen before. The market itself was bustling. It's a working market with generational family businesses. The expertise these folks have in their various trades and disciplines is impressive. They are also keen to share their goods and knowledge. Overall it was a wonderful experience. If you travel to learn about other cultures and interact with nice people, this is the tour for you.
