Gothic Quarter (Barri Gotic)

If the period of the modern art starts in the beginning of the XX century, then Barcelona´s Gothic Quarter is the part of it. A lot of buildings of this area were renovated or have new elements what were made especially for the Worlds Fair in 1929. Did you know?

Centre CĂvic Pati Llimona

Centre CĂvic Pati Llimona hosts exhibitions of contemporary art related to social themes, and human beings in situations of conflict. The Pati Llimona also includes a set of Roman ruins that can be visited. It offers high-level workshops, collaborates with cinema festivals and also counts with a laboratory and a photographic set.

Raval

Raval - one of the most creative areas in Barcelona (possibly because the government here fights less with street artists than in other places). The graffiti of this quarter could be sold auction if anyone could figure out how to remove them without damaging them from the walls.

MACBA Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona

MACBA - the most famous museum of contemporary art in Barcelona. It opened its doors in 1995 and since then it is a cultural center of reference in this city. The idea to open this center become from AssociaciĂł d'Artistes Actuals, formed by artists, critics and art lovers in 1956. They visited a lot of museums in the world and was trying to do the best mix of their experience. Government of Catalonia started to believe in this project just in 1985. In 1987, the Museum of Contemporary Art Foundation was constituted, of a private nature, which joined the consortium formed by the two public administrations.
