At least one cider house tour is a must when visiting San Sebastian. However, we felt that this probably was not a good one, and was a bit overpriced for what you get. We paid about 100 Euros a person. For that, we got a taxi ride to the Cider House to and from our hotel (which probably would have been about 14 Euros each way), and the Cider House pre-set menu (which, if purchased separately, would have been 39.50 Euros each), and a tour with a surly guide who did not want to let us take videos. WHen we were taking video during the tour, she asked us not to do it, so we had to wait until she was done talking before we could video the experience. Then, she kept rushing us, telling us she had to move along, and the fact that we had to wait until she was done to video slowed us down. We were the only two on the tour, by the way. So, generally, the experience was not pleasant on the tour. The food and cider were OK, but not worth what we paid. Finally, communication from the tour company was not great. They told us when they would pick us up and drop us off, but they did not tell us that there would be no tour guide to do so. As a result, we got to the pickup point and waited, and nobody showed. We called, and nobody answered. Ten minutes later, we had the hotel call, and they were told that there was a taxi waiting for us. We found the taxi, but neither we nor the driver had known to contact each other to start the ride. He was pleasant enough, however once the ride began. When it was time to go, we asked the man at the Cider House if he was going to call the taxi to take us back, or if it was pre-arranged by the tour company. He did not know. Eventually our driver to take us back arrived (on time, and this time we knew this was probably the guy, and got in the taxi). He was very pleasant, and we had a nice conversation going back to our hotel. In all, an OK experience, and a bit overpriced for what you get.

The minibus pick up our group of 6 people spot on time and the return trip was also punctual. The tour of the Petritegi cider factory was interesting and informative. This was followed by a traditional Basque 2 hour lunch of local sausage hors d'oeuvre, salt cod omelette, fried cod with peppers and onions, T-bone steaks that were superb and finally idiazabel cheese with quince jelly and fresh walnuts. Also wine or cider included with the meal. The time overall was 4 hours. A great way to spend a few hours

Fun times at the Cider House. We have been on two different occasions to the Petritegi Cider House separated by 5 years and found it both times to be great. We always learn about the Basque cider approach and meet nice people. And they have great Basque cider.

It was so fun! We live in the USA and love cider in general but this was very unique experience. You learned about the process and get taste typical cider house menu and drink cider(unlimited!) from the barrel! All natural no sulfite(contains little but not added sulfite like other ciders that you can find in th USA) we loved it!

Ruben was a wonderful driver, tour guide, and companion for our Basque Country cider experience! We loved our visit to Petritegi! A visit to a cider house is an absolute must if you travel to Donastia. We really enjoyed learning about the cider making process and history of cider in San Sebastián and the food was amazing!! Txotx!

Our guide was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. The tour was informative even though we were there at probably slowest season. Lots of locals coming in for lunch is always a good sign. Great food but big servings and loved the experience of getting up and refreshing your drink direct from the spray huge barrels.

Had a great tour and a great guide! Ilanoha (not sure of spelling) our guide was well versed in the history of the region. She was receptive to our travel needs, respectful, and very accommodating. The food was delicious and plentiful. And the cider is not what is served in the U.S. as cider. It was not sweet, slightly tart, but light and quite pleasant. I highly recommend this tour!

when tour guide picked us up didn't even tell us his name. Asked my husband to seat in the way back we thought he was picking up more people, no it was because he didn't want to remove papers on seat, which he did move but not happy about that. drove to cider house hardly spoke would have been nice to know things about area we were driving through. we got there just after 7 pm had a tour from cider house that was quite interesting then told had 40 min to wait. tour guide suggested a tour around area that would have been great just drove the way we came in and drove back without talking got back to cider house and still had 25 min wait. Food was OK considering the amount of people they have to serve. When tour guide brought us back to hotel didn't even get out of car. So no tip for him Hotel doorman opened the door for us. Would say need a guide with personality would help and don't get picked up til at least 7 or even later. Also it was over priced when you see what cider house meal and cab would have cost.

I neved heard about cider in the Basque Country and once there I could see it everywhere so I asked about it and found out that it is one of the most traditional drinks over there. I tried this tour, and discovered so much about cider houses and their tradition! Laarnt about the cider making process, and had a magnificent dinner with cod omelette, fried cod, T-bone steak, walnuts and quince (traditional cider house menu). I could drink as much cider as I wanted as well!
