We had a wonderful walking tour . Not one but strenuous though I was with my 85yo mother . She’s hard of hearing and our guide was exceptionally considerate allowing her to be next to him the whole time . Our guide Bernardo was very knowledgeable, granted he’s a historian . We had visited the majority of the places of the tour the day before on our own , and almost cancelled our walking tour . We’re so glad we didn’t because it gave us greater appreciation , specially if the University of Coimbra . Bernardo gave us a wonderful recommendation of where to have lunch . A place where the locals eat . “ Giro” great food and good price .

Bernardo was the perfect guide for our tour and his deep knowledge of the history Coimbra and of Portugal really made the tour special. Add to this a kind, patient, and gentle disposition and it all resulted in a great time walking and learning in this beautiful historic town.

Renan, our guide was a student at the university and able to give unique insight all along the tour.

Bernardo was an excellent guide. He shared a lot of interesting stories and history, and he answered all our questions. He was also friendly and considerate-- very enjoyable to spend time with!

A good coverage of the university and the old town. We felt we had a better understanding of the area.

The tour of the university was informative. We didn’t get much out of the city tour. I believe we were supposed to be on a UNESCO street, but that was not pointed out to us. The meeting point was not as described in the email we received and though we arrived well before the appointed time, we lost 10 minutes just trying to find our guide who was probably only 50’ away from us, but had no flag to indicate he was a guide.

A very enjoyable and educational tour! Our guide is a local who has attended the university and completed his dissertation. He does these tours regularly and the university employees and local shop owners all know him very well. One said to me, 'he's the best!' Two couples were late joining our tour due to traffic and our guide did a very good job of guiding them to our current location. Nothing fazed him. We learned so much about the long history of the campus and Coimbra itself. Having him take us through the Joanina Library was extra special with his colorful insights he provided. If your travels take you to Coimbra definitely allow time for this tour!
