This was a wonderful tour! Our guide was knowledgeable and pleasant! We traveled in a private car & were provided with a bottle of water as well as receiving a great commentary! All the important sites were visited & we had plenty of time to explore!

This was an important day on our three week stay in France and was beyond worth it. Roger was fantastic! As a local and former history teacher, he REALLY knows his stuff. My son is a history buff, and the two hit it off immediately. So many details and visualizations. Just wonderful. A truly meaningful day.

What an excellent tour! Gwendal, the driver/guide/historian extrodinaire was professional, personable and extremely knowledgeable. For those history buffs, and even for those who aren't, this was a day well spent. We are actually considering a return visit next year to have him guide us on another historic tour.

Gwendal did a great job of guiding us around the various sites associated with the Battle of Verdun. We appreciated his familiarity with the military history and landscape and enjoyed his company. Having him as a guide was a definite asset.

The tour was fantastic. Gwendyl firstly speaks excellent English and his communication before and during the tour is impeccable.Transportation was smooth to and from the hotel in a comfortable and very clean vehicle. He is also flexible within reason. Top highlights: 1. Gwendyl did a fantastic job of bringing history to life. He started the tour showing us troop movements on a map and why certain areas were of military importance. It gave us a sense of direction and bearings on where we were in each stop. He is very knowledgeable and the tour is very organized. 2. There is nothing that can describe the area that was ravished by this war. The lumps and bumps. The craters from the bombs. The trenches still visible after over 100 years. 3. The loss was staggering. The Ossuary and graveyards solidified this. Whole towns gone. Land still unusable. 4. The old forts and bunkers are super cool. 5. The museum is fantastic. It really brings home what you witnessed throughout the day. We liked it a lot. The movies and stories. 6. My teen really liked it. Be prepared for a long day of being outside. We went in December and it was still enjoyable. The countryside is gorgeous too. I am so glad we chose to do this. It’s important to know history. I can’t say enough good things about this your.

Gwendal is a fantastic guide. He really knows the history and brings it to life. The landscape is not changed and you can still see all the craters from bombs and the trenches. The old forts and bunkers are pretty cool. The museum is really well done too. I like how he took the time to explain with a map before we started. To see the location of Germans and French. To see the movements and why certain places were wanted by the troops. So many lost their lives here and it’s important to know history. My teen liked it too. Pick up and drop off were smooth. Gwendal was great with communication too before and during the tour. This was one of my favorite things we did in France. There is so much history in this country. Also the countryside is gorgeous. Even in winter.

The private tour with Gwendal was convenient and he was always very nice and pleasant. Visiting the Verdun battlefield site is an absolute must for any military history enthusiast. But whether you're an enthusiast or not (like my wife), this is place represents monumental history, however tragic and savage it may be. So regardless, you're in for an amazing yet somber experience. The Battle of Verdun was 300+ days of absolute carnage and on this tour you are privately transported to all the essential sites. The best ones being: Fort Douaumont (it's huge inside), the museum and the Douaumont Ossuary (the most somber place I've ever been). The battlefield is very well preserved where the land is still littered with craters from all the shelling over 100 years ago. Pictures don't do a place like this justice. You have to be there.

Gwendyl was very knowledgeable about the battle at verdun. He has a nice coherent tour planned. I really appreciate that he covid tests every other day- i think he should sell that message. Wish he had a business card to give me. Dropped us off at our hotel in verdun since no plan to go back to reims. Very comfortable car. Great tour!!

Gwendal was flexible with our pickup, providing an excellent overview of the day, the Champagne region, WW1 overview, and getting our background and his covered. Very welcoming with excellent command of English, his insight into WW1 Verdun operations, by both the German and Allies, was very comprehensive. We learned a lot and gained a great appreciation for the history of these hallowed grounds. Recommend...excellent tour!!

My husband and I had an amazing day with Gwendal. My husband's #1 request for our trip was to visit Verdun and Gwendal gave us a truly unforgettable experience. We saw and learned so much about the key role that this region played during WW1. You can tell that Gwendal is extremely knowledgable and genuinely interested in the topic. He also made the day extremely stress free, with pickup and drop off at our hotel in a very comfortable van and tickets already taken care of. I honestly couldn't imagine touring this region without an english speaking guide.
