Dimanche 10h00. Visite guidée avec Mathieu, guide francophone (car français, vivant à Londres dps 10 ans). A partir de St James Palace, histoire et occupation actuelle des lieux. Histoires de fantômes associés à des morts brutales ds le palais. Évocation de La Tower of London, lieu de sacres et aussi d'exécutions (non visible car près du Tower Bridge). Commentaires aussi sur Marlborough House. Relève de la garde royale devant St James, puis relève de la garde de loin (car bcp de monde et grilles dvt le palais) devant le Palais de Buckingham. Anecdotes sur les différentes intrusions d'étrangers ds le château. Traversée de St James Park avec la découverte des écureuils gloutons et pas farouches du tout (les enfants ont voulu les nourrir en fin d'am). Histoire du fantôme de la femme sans tête (décapitée par son mari soldat au XVIIIème siècle) qui hanterait le parc-->brrrrrr!!! Arrêt à Parliament Square pour connaitre les dates et les histoires de Westminster Abbey, du Parlement ainsi que de ses 2 tours, Elizabeth (contenant la fameuse cloche Big Ben) et la Tour Victoria. Des statues de personnages célèbres de l'histoire britannique y sont visibles, dont Millicent Fawcett, une célèbre suffragette (droit de vote des femmes en 1918). Direction Parliament Street pour y voir la caserne des Horse Guards, gardée par deux cavaliers quasiment immobiles (dur pour les chevaux de rester statiques...). Passage devant la ruelle Downing Street, explications sur les différents bâtiments et monuments de cette artère "administrative". Mathieu était un super guide, flexible (nous lui avons demandé de commencer plus tôt pour pouvoir enchainer sur notre second circuit de Tootbus: que l'on a bien eu!). Il a su répondre à toutes nos questions avec gentilles et patience. Nous vous recommandons chaudement la visite des bâtiments historiques, politiques et administratifs avec Mathieu. En plus, en début de séjour, ça permet de planter les bases pour les visites suivantes durant votre séjour.
