Star of Honolulu - Dinner and Whale Watch Cruises

This is a very large multi level dinner cruise type ‘boat’. The crew funnels you in for a picture just like on regular cruises, into a very cold dining room to hold you for announcements while trying to sell you breakfast. No access to the other levels. Once you go up- it is one side or the other. You have to walk through the dining cabin to get to the other side. You are quite high above the water- which should be good for viewing- however it’s just too high to feel like a great close up view. Also- the vessel size means they stayed further away. Do yourselves a favor and book a smaller catamaran type vessel.

We were so lucky to have had a great whale watching experience with the Star of Honolulu crew. Captain Wade was extremely friendly and welcoming!

Great experience and saw two whales which we followed for awhile while they were breaching! Ship even stayed out a bit late to ensure we could watch them longer!!

We had an Amazing time on this tour despite unusual winds while we were in Waikiki, being on such a large ship was great (not rough at all) We saw a few whales from a distance and even witnessed a whale breech What a sight to see! The crew was Awesome

We planned this toward the end of our trip which was the right thing to do. After all of the adventurous activities, this was a wonderful relaxing break. The crew was very welcoming when we boarded. The photographer took our picture (available for purchase toward the end of the cruise) and we sat down to order coffee/bagels for purchase. We made some friends talking to others. We were provided some education and safety information then we were off to move about the four decks. I have some great video, but I am not technically savvy enough to load it here. :-( They key to this activity is patience. It is very relaxing, and it is amazing once you do see some whales.

There was def enough space on the ship and everything was clean and the crew was awesome. I loved the "dad" jokes and little bits of fun information about the whales as we were on the tour.
