Runnymede National Trust

(Pass by)

After a 1 hour drive from central London, we will arrive in Runnymede. We will drive through this ancient meeting place in the meadow by the river Thames. This is where modern democracy sprung from Magna Carta in 1215.

Old Windsor

(Pass by)

We will drive through Old Windsor where the 9 th century Anglo-Saxon kings once held court in their palace here.

Windsor Great Park

We will drive by Windsor Great Park and Home Park.

The Long Walk

(Pass by)

We will see the processional route taken by the British Royal family into Windsor Castle and to Royal Ascot.

Windsor

We will drive through the village of Windsor to the castle. Here you will have 30 minutes to walk around or have a pub lunch.

Windsor Castle

After clearing security we will enter the outer precincts of Windsor Castle. Here we can see the Round Tower and moat gardens and take some photographs. If scheduled, we can see the Guard Mount. We can then enter St George's royal chapel which is a masterpiece of English Gothic architecture. Inside we can also see the final resting place of several monarchs. This will include King Henry VIII, as well as Queen Elizabeth II, her parents, grandparents and great grandparents. From here we will walk into the State Apartments. Inside we will see many artefacts and art from the Royal Collection.

Admission Included

Eton College

We can walk through, or drive by, Eton from Windsor. Here we can view the outside of Eton College for boys. You could also have pub lunch in Eton. From here it is about an hour back to London.
