Our morning started with a hearty breakfast at Pronto Express Futaleufu. It's a cozy little spot, perfect for fueling up before a day of adventure. I opted for a strong coffee and a traditional Chilean empanada, while Lena enjoyed some scrambled eggs. It reminded us of our favorite breakfast spots back in Berlin, but with a distinct Patagonian twist.

With our stomachs full and spirits high, we headed towards Mirador Cañadón del Diablo. The drive itself was a treat, with winding roads offering glimpses of the stunning landscape. As we approached the mirador, the anticipation grew. The weather in Futaleufu in November is moderately chilly, and the general area may also feel breezy. We made sure to wear warm layers, with average highs of 56°F (13°C) and lows of 37°F (3°C).

The hike up to the viewpoint was invigorating. The trails are well-marked, but sturdy hiking shoes are definitely a must. As we climbed, the views became more and more spectacular. Finally, we reached the top, and it was absolutely worth it. The panoramic vista of the canyons and the Futaleufu River was simply breathtaking. The sheer drop-offs and rugged terrain created a sense of awe, making it an ideal spot for photography. I couldn't help but snap dozens of photos, trying to capture the immensity of the landscape. Lena and I just stood there for a while, soaking it all in.

To walk in nature is to witness a thousand miracles.

After spending a good hour at the mirador, we decided to explore Árbol de Sisaa. It was a short drive away, and we were curious to see this unique natural landmark. It turned out to be a rather peaceful spot, perfect for a quiet moment of reflection. We learned a bit about the local flora and fauna, and I even managed to spot a few interesting bird species.

By this time, we were both feeling quite hungry, so we made our way to Restaurant Encuentro for lunch. This restaurant promised authentic Chilean cuisine, and it certainly delivered. I decided to try the cazuela, a hearty Chilean stew, while Lena opted for the pastel de choclo, a traditional corn pie. The flavors were rich and comforting, and it was the perfect way to warm up after our outdoor adventures.

In the late afternoon, we took a leisurely stroll through the town of Futaleufu. It's a charming little place with a relaxed atmosphere. We popped into a few local shops, admiring the handcrafted goods and souvenirs. We even stumbled upon a small artisanal market where we bought some locally made chocolates as a treat for later.

As the sun began to set, we decided to check out CERVECERIA ESCARCHA PATAGONIA for a pre-dinner drink. The brewery had a cozy atmosphere and a great selection of locally crafted beers. I sampled a dark stout, while Lena went for a lighter pale ale. We chatted with some of the locals and learned a bit more about the town's history and culture. It was a great way to unwind and soak up the local vibe.

For dinner, we chose Restobar El Patagón. Although there were no reviews of the restaurant, we decided to try it. We were in the mood for something hearty and comforting, and the menu looked promising. I ordered a grilled steak with chimichurri sauce, while Lena went for the lamb stew. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. It was the perfect way to end a day of exploration and adventure.

As we walked back to our lodging, Lena and I reflected on the day's experiences. Futaleufu had certainly captured our hearts with its stunning landscapes and warm hospitality. It felt like we were discovering a hidden gem, far away from the hustle and bustle of city life. I am so glad we decided to come to this region of Chile. It is a far cry from my office in Berlin, and it is good to disconnect from my technology-driven life. The fact that Lena is here with me makes it even more special.

Tomorrow, we plan to explore the Futaleufú River and Laguna Pinilla. I'm particularly excited about the river, as I've heard it's a world-renowned spot for white-water rafting. Lena, on the other hand, is looking forward to the tranquil beauty of the lagoon. We'll also be trying out Once once Restaurant for breakfast, La Picá de los Colonos for lunch, and Antigua Casona Hotel - Restaurante Italiano for dinner. And, if we have some time, we might check out El Taihuen, a local shop.

Before drifting off to sleep, I made a mental note to buy a portable phone charger when we get back to Berlin. I had forgotten it when packing, and it would have been useful to have today.
