Family Adventure to Chapada dos Veadeiros

A Day of Refreshing Dips and Breathtaking Vistas

Today, our family delved deeper into the heart of Chapada dos Veadeiros, seeking out the refreshing embrace of its famed waterfalls and the panoramic splendor of its sunset views. It was a day filled with the simple joys of nature, a reminder of the beauty that exists when we take the time to seek it out. From crystal-clear waters to vibrant horizons, every moment felt like a postcard come to life.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Zu's Bistro, an Italian gem tucked away here in Alto Paraíso de Goiás. I must admit, starting the day with a hearty meal is something I always appreciate. It reminds me of Fatou’s cooking back home in Bielefeld, where she always makes sure we have a good start to our day. After breakfast, we set off towards our first destination: Cachoeira do Rodeador.

The drive itself was a treat, the landscape unfolding before us with its unique rock formations and vast expanses of the Cerrado. Arriving at Cachoeira do Rodeador, we embarked on a short, easy trail that led us to a beautiful canyon. The walk was manageable for all of us, including the children, which is always a plus when travelling as a family. The waterfall itself was a sight to behold, a small cascade leading into a series of clear, cold pools. We spent a good couple of hours here, swimming and enjoying the invigorating water. Ebrima, of course, was in his element, always the first to jump in and the last to leave.

The beauty of nature lies not just in its grandeur, but in its intimate details, inviting us to pause, reflect, and connect with the world around us.

Next on our list was the Enchanted Well Waterfall, or Cachoeira Poço Encantado. This required a bit more driving, but the journey was well worth it. Located near Teresina de Goiás, the waterfall is divided into two sections, with the water cascading down into a large natural pool. The unique beach of white sand that appears and changes with each flood adds to its charm. The crystal-clear waters were perfect for swimming, and we all took a refreshing dip. I even tried my hand at a bit of photography, attempting to capture the ethereal beauty of the falls. It’s moments like these that I cherish, being able to share the wonders of the world with my family.

By mid-afternoon, we were ready for a late lunch. We headed to La Parrilla, known for its Argentine and Uruguayan cuisine. After days of exploring the local cuisine, it was a welcome change to have some familiar flavors. The grilled meats were cooked to perfection, and we all left feeling satisfied and energized for our final stop of the day.

Our last destination was the Complexo Morada do Sol. This aquatic complex is not just one attraction, but a collection of four unique natural environments. We explored the swimming areas and marvelled at the canyons. The sun was beginning to set as we arrived, casting a golden glow over the landscape. The name Morada do Sol translates to “Home of the Sun,” and it certainly lived up to its name.

To end the day, we made our way to Bar do Mirante for a sunset drink. Perched high up, the bar offered the best view of Chapada dos Veadeiros. Sipping on a cold drink, we watched as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of orange, pink, and purple. The experience was nothing short of magical, a perfect end to a day filled with natural beauty. The bar had a relaxing atmosphere with live music, making it an ideal place to unwind.

As I sit here now, reflecting on the day, I am filled with a sense of gratitude. Chapada dos Veadeiros has a way of captivating the soul, of reminding us of the simple pleasures in life. Tomorrow, we plan to visit Waterfall Bridal Veil, Cachoeiras do Caracol, and Cachoeira do Lajeado. I am excited to see what new adventures await us.

Before heading back to our accommodation, we had dinner at Restaurante Buritis. The restaurant serves a buffet of pasta dishes where you can select the ingredients. It was the perfect way to end the day after a long day of exploring. The meal was delicious and filling, providing the perfect end to a day filled with natural beauty.
