As my final day in Essaouira dawned, a bittersweet feeling washed over me. The past ten days have been a whirlwind of cultural immersion, stunning landscapes, and delightful culinary experiences. It was time to soak it all in one last time, to etch the memories into my mind before heading back to Hamburg. Today was all about embracing the natural beauty and reflecting on the adventures shared with my friends.

The morning began with a hearty breakfast at La Rose Du Sud. I opted for their vegan tagine, a flavorful concoction of vegetables simmered in aromatic spices. It was the perfect way to fuel up for a day of exploration. The cozy atmosphere of the restaurant, filled with locals and fellow travelers, added to the charm. Our first adventure of the day was with Be In Naturetours Essaouira. We chose a guided hiking tour that promised to unveil the hidden gems of the region. Ottmane, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing insights about the local flora and fauna. As an urban beekeeper, I was particularly interested in the native plants and their role in supporting local bee populations. The tour took us through rolling hills and along dramatic coastal paths, offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. The fresh sea air and the sound of crashing waves were invigorating.

In the afternoon, we decided to indulge in some retail therapy at Nika Vintage & Second Hand. As someone who appreciates sustainable living, I was excited to explore the shop's collection of pre-loved clothing and accessories. I ended up finding a beautiful vintage scarf, a unique piece that would remind me of my time in Essaouira. My friends also found some treasures, each of us leaving the shop with a special memento of our trip. It was a fun and eco-friendly way to support local businesses and find unique souvenirs.

As the day drew to a close, we made our way to Le Love by Caravane for our final dinner in Essaouira. I ordered the grilled lamb, which was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The service was impeccable, the staff attentive and friendly. As we enjoyed our meal, we reminisced about our favorite moments from the trip, laughing and sharing memories that would last a lifetime. I enjoyed a baba au rhum for dessert, which was delicious!

After dinner, we took a final stroll through the Medina, soaking in the sights and sounds of the city one last time. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have experienced this magical place with my friends, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Tomorrow, we head back to Marrakech for our flight back to Hamburg. While I'm excited to return home and share my stories with my fellow urban beekeepers, I know that a part of me will always remain in Essaouira. Looking back on the trip, I realize I forgot my portable phone charger and travel adapter. I will need to remember to pack those next time I travel. I am also excited to get back to Hamburg and work with my bees after this wonderful trip. The trip has given me inspiration and a fresh perspective that I can use in my work.
