Discover more about Southern Accents Architectural Antiques

Southern Accents Architectural Antiques isn't just a store; it's a journey through time, showcasing the enduring beauty of craftsmanship and offering a glimpse into bygone eras. Founded in 1969 by Dr. Garlan Gudger, Sr., the business began as a humble effort to rescue architectural objects from demolition sites in Cullman, Alabama. What started as a hobby has blossomed into one of the largest architectural salvage businesses in the Southeast. Located in the heart of downtown Cullman, Southern Accents spans multiple warehouses and outdoor lots, housing an astonishing collection of historical artifacts and vintage decor. Here you can find antique doors, stained glass windows, chandeliers, mantels, and more. Salvaged lumber, trim, and other architectural components fill a vast warehouse. The collection includes items from early 1900s farmhouses in Alabama, 1880s estates in South Carolina, and even schoolhouses in Chicago and New York City brownstones. Southern Accents has played a role in revitalizing Cullman's downtown, especially after the 2011 tornado. The store's showroom is located in a historic building that once housed a hotel and a girls' boarding school, adding to the location's charm and historical significance. Southern Accents has been recognized as the Alabama Retailer of the Year and has received the Spirit of Cullman Award from the city's tourism department.
