Step back in time at the Gunn-Bellenger House, an exquisite example of Victorian architecture located in Gadsden, Alabama. Built in 1886 by Edward Tracy Hollingsworth, a local merchant and banker, the house boasts an eclectic mix of styles, including Queen Anne and Second Empire influences. The house features a steeply-sided mansard roof and an Eastlake porch. Over the years, the house remained a family home, passing to Dr. Charles Logan Gunn in 1901 and later to his daughter, Carolyn Gunn Bellenger, a well-known educator. Upon her death in 1990, Mrs. Bellenger bequeathed the house to the City of Gadsden. In 2023, a local businessman purchased the property and meticulously restored it, with Gary Hunt managing the restoration. The house is listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage and the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the Gunn-Bellenger House serves as an event space for weddings, showers, and private parties. The interior showcases period-appropriate wallpapers, light fixtures, and antique furniture, with some original pieces belonging to the Bellenger family. Visitors can admire the original stained-glass windows, intricate woodwork, and a carefully chosen mauve pink shade in what was Carolyn Bellenger's bedroom.
