Discover more about Lady in the Marina

The Lady in the Marina is one of the most eye-catching and talked-about attractions at Barber Marina. This impressive sculpture, created by artist Mark Cline, depicts a woman relaxing in the water, with only her knees visible above the surface. Originally named “Country Girl Skinny Dipping,” the sculpture has captured the hearts of locals and tourists alike, becoming affectionately known as the Lady in the Lake or Lady in the Bay. Installed in 2012, the original sculpture was unfortunately destroyed by Hurricane Sally in 2020. However, due to her popularity, the Lady was rebuilt and returned to her place in the marina in late 2022, much to the delight of her many fans. If the Lady in the Marina were to stand, she would be as tall as the Statue of Liberty (without the raised arm). Barber Marina itself is a world-class marina located on the Intracoastal Waterway, offering a range of amenities and services for boaters. In addition to the Lady in the Marina, visitors can explore other unusual art installations scattered throughout the grounds, including a full-scale replica of Stonehenge known as Bamahenge, dinosaurs, and knights. The marina is owned by George Barber, a local businessman and philanthropist with a fondness for quirky and impressive art. A visit to Barber Marina offers a unique blend of art, recreation, and stunning waterfront views.
