Discover more about Museum of Wonder Drive Thru

The Museum of Wonder Drive Thru, located in the rural town of Seale, Alabama, is a testament to the imaginative world of self-taught artist Butch Anthony. What began in the 1970s as Anthony's taxidermy shop and artifact room has evolved into a celebrated folk art experience. In 2014, Anthony created the World's First Drive-Thru Museum as an extension of his original Museum of Wonder. Constructed from shipping containers with viewing windows, the Drive Thru presents a rotating display of Anthony's art and curiosities. Visitors can drive slowly past the containers and discover a playful blend of bones, found objects, paintings, and quirky marquee signs. Anthony's signature style, known as "Intertwangleism," blends zoology, anatomy, humor, and a fascination with the unusual. His work incorporates salvaged trash, taxidermy, sculpture, and painting, resulting in unique and thought-provoking pieces. The museum offers a peek into the magical, the strange, and the otherworldly, while also feeling oddly close to the everyday world. The Drive-Thru Museum captures much of what makes Southern folk art special: originality, color, warmth, and a touch of the bizarre.
