Discover more about Wills Creek Winery

Wills Creek Winery, a tranquil retreat in the Appalachian foothills of Big Wills Valley, offers a sensory escape from everyday life. Located near Attalla, Alabama, this family-owned winery is steeped in history and designed to invigorate all your senses. Founded in 1996 by Jahn and Janie Coppey, the winery opened in 2001 and has become a beloved destination for wine enthusiasts and nature lovers. Jahn Coppey's journey to Alabama began in the Rhône valley of Switzerland, where he grew up in a family of vineyard owners. His passion for winemaking, combined with Janie's family history in farming, led them to establish Wills Creek Vineyards on the Stephens family homestead. The soil proved well-suited for growing muscadines, a native grape variety, and the Coppeys embarked on a mission to produce a variety of muscadine and vinifera wines. Today, Wills Creek Winery produces approximately 2,000 cases of wine annually, including muscadine wines from their own vineyard, locally grown fruit wines like blueberry and strawberry, flavored grape wines, and red and white vinifera grape wines. Visitors can indulge in wine tastings of up to 20 different wines and learn about the winemaking process through tours of the processing rooms. The winery also hosts special events throughout the year, including winemaking classes and seasonal celebrations. The winery operates two properties: Wills Creek Winery, ideal for events with fewer than 50 people, and Wills Creek Vineyards Venue, better suited for 50 to 200 guests. The winery's event spaces offer idyllic settings for any celebration. The Alabama Wine Festival is a popular annual event. The tasting room provides a cozy atmosphere, while the outdoor deck offers views of the vineyards, mountains, and a spring-fed pond.
