Driving

From Fackler, Alabama, head north on County Road 264 for approximately 8 miles. The preserve entrance will be on your left, marked by a small gravel parking area. Parking is limited to a maximum of 6 vehicles, and parking on the road is prohibited. The trailhead is located near the parking area. There are no fees associated with parking or accessing the preserve, but a permit is required.

(SCCi), the preserve protects Neversink Cave, a 162-foot deep open-air pit cave.Neversink is often called the 'classic pit' and is one of the most photographed caves in the TAG (Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia) region. The cave's allure lies in the dramatic vertical drop, lush fern-covered ledges, and seasonal waterfalls that cascade into the abyss, creating an otherworldly scene. The cave opening measures approximately 40 feet in diameter, expanding to about 100 feet at the bottom.The SCCi acquired the property in 1995 to protect this fragile ecosystem. The SCCi balances recreational access with ecological preservation. A moderately strenuous 0.6-mile hike leads to the cave's entrance, where visitors can marvel at the breathtaking view. Experienced cavers can descend into the pit using single rope technique (SRT).The SCCi requires all visitors to obtain a free permit before entering the preserve. This allows the organization to monitor visitor numbers and provide safety information.
