Getting There

  • Walking

    To get to Himarë from the center of Gjirokastër, start at the main square (Sheshi Çameri). Head southwest on Rruga Ismail Qemali towards Rruga 28 Nëntori. Continue straight for about 150 meters until you reach the church. Turn left onto Rruga Gjirokastër-Himarë. Follow this road for approximately 20 kilometers. It will be a scenic walk, but be prepared for some uphill and downhill sections. After around 3-4 hours of walking, you will reach Himarë, which is located along the coast. As you approach, you will see signs indicating the town.

    From Gjirokastër, head to the bus station located at the eastern edge of the town, near the main road. Look for buses heading to Himarë, which are usually marked with signs on the front. Buses run frequently, especially during the summer months. The journey will take about 1.5 to 2 hours.
