Getting There

Car

From Cafayate, head southeast on Ruta Nacional 40 (RN40) for approximately 24 kilometers. Look for signs indicating 'Rio Colorado' as you approach the area. After about 24 km, you will see a turn-off to your right that leads to the parking area for the waterfalls. Make sure to follow the dirt road signs to the waterfalls, which is about 5 kilometers further into the hills. There is no entry fee for the waterfalls, but be cautious of road conditions as they may vary.

Take a local bus from Cafayate to the town of San Carlos, which is about 30 kilometers away. Buses run several times a day, and the fare is approximately ARS 150. Upon reaching San Carlos, hire a local taxi or arrange a ride with a local guide who knows the route to the Rio Colorado Waterfalls. The taxi ride from San Carlos to the waterfalls will take around 20-30 minutes and may cost you between ARS 600 to ARS 800. Make sure to confirm the return trip with the taxi driver.
