Pico Alemán: A Panoramic Peak in Villa General Belgrano

Pico Alemán, rising 980 meters above sea level, is part of the Sierras Chicas mountain range near Villa General Belgrano. This peak, often visited in conjunction with the Cerro de la Virgen, provides hikers with sweeping vistas of the town and the broader Calamuchita Valley. The ascent, while demanding, is a popular activity for both locals and tourists seeking a blend of physical activity and natural beauty.The trail begins near the entrance to Villa General Belgrano on Provincial Route No. 5, about 300 meters south of the main entrance. The path leading up the mountain is approximately 1700 meters long and ascends 430 meters, taking about 45 to 50 minutes to reach the summit. The slopes can be steep, with gradients of up to 45 degrees in some sections, requiring sturdy footwear and a reasonable level of fitness.From the top, hikers are rewarded with views of the Sierras Grandes and the Los Molinos and Embalse de Río Tercero dams. The Cerro de la Virgen, with its religious significance, is located a short distance away, making it easy to visit both peaks in one trip.
